The Shaanxi guild hall in Chengdu is located in Shaanxi Street (now in Rongcheng Hotel). It was built in 1663, the second year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. It is a place where western Shaanxi people live in Sichuan to offer sacrifices to the sages, discuss business affairs, worship relatives, feast friends, and stay scientifically.
Jiaqing two years (1797) after expansion and repair. In 1885, the existing building was initiated by the Chief Secretary of Sichuan Province, who was born in Shaanxi Province. Thirty three businesses of Shaanxi people, such as "Qingyi" and "Yitai" in Chengdu, raised funds for reconstruction. The whole building is dignified, simple and powerful. It inherits the excellent tradition of Chinese ancient architecture in modeling and decoration, and reflects the high level of architecture in Qing Dynasty. The main building is a double eaves Xieshan style, covered with black simple tiles; the pillars of the ground floor are made of stone, the wooden doors and windows are exquisitely carved, and the Doufang patterns are elegantly painted. The plaque of Shaanxi guild hall was written by Yu Youren.
After the economic recovery of Chengdu in the Qing Dynasty, merchants and tourists from all over the city came in an endless stream, and the city was prosperous in industry and commerce. As more and more people from other provinces live in Chengdu or other prefectures and counties in the province, the guild hall has become an ideal place for these people to travel and gather. According to the records of Chengdu Tong LAN, there were 16 guildhalls set up in Chengdu in the Qing Dynasty. For example, the Shaanxi guild hall in Shanxi Street was originally located in wolongqiao street, but now it is located in Luodai Town, Longquan. In addition, there are 19 public offices in the city (with the nature of Guildhall and the places where various trades and Guilds handle affairs).
There is an amazing story about Shaanxi people building "Shaanxi guild hall" in Chengdu. It is said that more than 300 years ago, some Chengdu people didn't have the current mind of "embracing all rivers and having tolerance is big", and they didn't want to sell land to "Laoshan" (the Sichuan people used to call Shaanxi people Laoshan) convent. Later, after many twists and turns, Shaanxi people finally bought a rotten mud pond and its surrounding waste land for the construction of the guild hall at a high price. To build the guild hall, the first thing to do was to fill up the rotten mud pond with earth and stone. But at that time, some people did not allow them to collect soil from the local area. In desperation, they made an unexpected and amazing decision: the fellow townspeople's Association proposed that everyone from Shaanxi to Chengdu must carry at least one sack of native soil to the foundation of the Shaanxi fellow townspeople's Association and pour it into the rotten mud pond. In this way, two years later, bags of loess high slope soil were transported from Shaanxi, and nearly an acre of rotten mud pond was filled up. After that, a magnificent Shaanxi guild hall was built. Some people once said that it was an unreasonable myth and even shook their heads. In fact, there is no need to be serious about this. One thing is certain. The spirit of "Jingwei reclamation, Yugong moving mountains" of Shaanxi people really has to be admired and admired!
In the second year of Jiaqing (1797), the main hall of Shaanxi guild hall was expanded, and a "medicine King Temple" was built behind the main hall to worship Sun Simiao, a famous doctor from Shaanxi Province, which was later destroyed in the war. In 1885, Cheng Yu, the governor of Sichuan Province and a native of Shaanxi Province, initiated the reconstruction of a "Shaanxi guild hall" in the original site, which was more magnificent than the Shaanxi guild hall in Kangxi.
At the end of the Qing Dynasty, when the road protection movement was booming, a branch of the road protection comrades' Association was built in the guild hall. After the founding of new China, the guild hall was once turned into a guest house. Many meetings of the CPC Chengdu Municipal Committee and government have been held here. Now the Shaanxi guild hall is still in the original site, located in the Rongcheng Hotel, only the main hall has been repaired. The main hall is located in the north and south, with a construction area of 805 square meters and a height of more than 18 meters. It is of wood structure, double eaves, Xieshan style roof, covered with dark colored tubular tiles and two-story eaves. There are 1.5-meter-high dragon like beasts at each end of the ridge. The pillars of the ground floor are stone pillars, and the four corner pillars reach the top. The wooden window lattice of the main hall is exquisitely carved, decorated with clouds and painted with elegant colors. The whole hall embodies the rich style of northern architecture. On April 4, 1981, the people's Government of Chengdu announced that Shaanxi guild hall is a cultural relic protection unit in Chengdu.
