Shanghai wildlife park is the largest national wildlife park in China at present. There are a wide range of animals here. There are not only more than 200 kinds of rare animals in the world, but also more than 10000 animals under the first-class protection in China.
The park is divided into two visiting areas. There are sea lions, elephants, goats, lions and tigers and other animal training performances in the park. You can also take cars to visit the wild animal area and get in close contact with those guys who just appear on TV.
Shanghai Wildlife Park
Shanghai Wildlife Park, located at 178 Nanliu Road, Pudong New Area, Shanghai, is China's first National Wildlife Park jointly built by Shanghai Municipal People's government and State Forestry Administration of China. It covers an area of 153 hectares (about 2300 mu) and is 35 km away from the center of Shanghai. It was officially opened to the public on November 18, 1995.
On May 8, 2007, Shanghai Wildlife Park was officially approved as a national AAAAA scenic spot by the National Tourism Administration. There are more than 200 kinds of rare wild animals from home and abroad, such as giant panda, golden monkey, golden takin, crested ibis, giraffe, zebra, antelope, white rhinoceros, cheetah, and so on. There are more than 10000 animals in the park. The park is divided into two visiting areas: Car access area and walking area.
Shanghai wildlife park is a theme park integrating wildlife breeding, exhibition, breeding and protection, popular science education and entertainment. It has won the honorary title of national popular science education base in 2015-2019.
On June 1, 2019, Shanghai Wildlife Park held a naming ceremony to announce that a 10 month old giant panda baby was officially named "Qiqi".

Historical development
In 1995, the animal arena of the performance Department of Shanghai Wildlife Park was built, which is the earliest special venue for animal performance in Shanghai wildlife park.
In November 1996, the animal performance field, also known as BaiHushan performance field, was built. Since its completion, BaiHushan performance field has undertaken many wonderful theme programs, such as the national animal games, animal fashion show, Spring Festival Gala and so on. The level of animal performance is in the leading position in China.

On October 6, 1998, after the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and South Africa, Shanghai Wildlife Park welcomed a group of special guests - South African wildlife. The 150 animals of 9 species arrived in Shanghai, China by special plane, including 34 giraffes, white rhinoceros, antelope, Sabina albopictus, springback, blue horned horse, black horned horse and South African sea lion.
On May 8, 2007, Shanghai Wildlife Park was officially approved as a national 5A scenic spot by the National Tourism Administration.

Pedestrian area

Flamingo exhibition area
The Flamingo exhibition area is the first attraction of Shanghai Wildlife Park, where nearly 200 birds live in groups. Therefore, flamingos have become the "welcome birds" of Shanghai wildlife park. Flamingo, named for its fiery red body, is mainly distributed in India, Africa and central and South America. They live for 20-30 years and feed on shrimps, clams, insects and algae. Red is not the original color of flamingos' feathers, but the plankton they ingest. At the same time, the brighter the red is, the stronger the Flamingos' physique is, the more attractive they are to the opposite sex flamingos, and the better their offspring will be.
Kangaroo slope
Kangaroo slope of Shanghai Wildlife Park covers an area of 2000 square meters. The lush green lawn is spacious and bright. There are more than 30 grey kangaroos and red kangaroos living here. They are docile. Visitors can approach kangaroos to feed them, touch baby kangaroos, and take a picture with them by holding their mother's hand.
Antelope Hall
The antelope Hall of Shanghai Wildlife Park covers an area of more than 2000 square meters. The exhibition area is equipped with rockery, waterfall, tall trees, material trough and water trough. The ground is made of stone and sand. The water permeability is quite good, which is very helpful to the health of animals. One of the biggest features of takin is rock climbing, so the biggest feature of the venue is that it is designed completely according to animal habits to meet the climbing requirements of golden takin.
Giraffe house
The giraffe hall walking area playground of Shanghai Wildlife Park covers an area of more than 2000 square meters. It is equipped with tall trees, material trough and water trough. The ground is composed of stone sand and grass. Visitors can feed giraffes with leaves and experience the pleasure of intimate contact with giraffes.
Giant panda Pavilion
In the giant panda exhibition area, half year old giant panda twins move their round bodies to meet with tourists.
Tapir Pavilion
Tapirs live in the dense tropical rain forest. They are good at swimming and climbing. They like to live near water source and rich vegetation. In order to make their living environment as close as possible to their "Hometown", the keepers of Shanghai wildlife park used their brains to deploy rockeries, waterfalls, trees, shrubs, grasslands, etc. in the exhibition area. This ecological display is more in line with the living habits of tapirs in China and the United States, so that they can swim, Wade and climb freely.
Hippo Pavilion
Hippopotamus Pavilion covers an area of 2200 square meters, with jujube and palm trees in the courtyard. The atmosphere of tropical rainforest makes hippopotamus feel as if they are back home. The four treasures of Hippo from Ningbo, Jixiang from Nanning and Shasha from Guangzhou form the happy big mouth group. They are about two years old, immature, lively and lovely.
African elephant exhibition area
The exhibition area of African elephants covers an area of more than 20 mu. It combines the elements of African Customs and simulates the natural environment. The trees and shrubs are lush. The scattered rocks, undulating terrain and surrounding streams make the African elephants in the original ecological natural environment. Twelve elephants from far away Africa are about 4 years old and weigh about 1 ton.
Asian elephant interactive experience zone
The Asian elephant exhibition area of Shanghai Wildlife Park covers an area of 30 mu, which is the largest Asian elephant group in East China. The exhibition area simulates the ecological environment of Asian elephant and is full of rich subtropical customs. The exhibition area is divided into two parts, one is behavior exhibition area, the other is tourist interaction area. In the behavior exhibition area, Asian elephants show their skills to tourists: moving wood, spraying water, watering flowers, doing beauty, etc.
Zebra Garden
Zebra garden is located in the middle of the Asian elephant exhibition area and baizhushan performance field, with an area of nearly 1500 square meters. The exhibition area is designed in an ecological way and equipped with trees and shrubs. More than ten zebras take a leisurely walk. Tourists can watch the zebra closely and listen to the nursery staff explain the popular science knowledge of zebra. Zebra and ostrich from Africa accompany each other to welcome tourists from all over the world and bring you more joy.
Mandrill Pavilion
Mandrill Hall of Shanghai Wildlife Park covers an area of about 2500 square meters. For the convenience of viewing, it is divided into indoor and outdoor exhibition areas. The terrain of outdoor exhibition area is raised from the outside to the inside in a slope shape, isolated by trunk ditch, with evergreen shrubs and trees planted inside, and a two-layer log leisure pavilion with giant stones and herringbone roof placed in the middle. The outer wall of indoor exhibition area is made of thickened bulletproof steel glass, visitors can watch on both sides, and the upper part of the house is added with windows to increase the indoor space The lighting and ventilation inside are also equipped with ropes, wheels, driftwood and parallel bars to meet their leisure and fitness needs.
Gibbon house
The gibbons on display in the gibbon Museum belong to the white cheeked gibbon, with a total of 5 heads. They belong to Mammalia, primates, gibbonidae, distributed in Guangxi and Yunnan of China, and can be seen in Vietnam, Myanmar, India and other countries abroad.
Tiger food exhibition area
The tiger foraging exhibition area of Shanghai wildlife park shows the behaviors of Amur tigers, such as climbing trees and foraging.
National ceremony African lion exhibition area
Guoli African lion exhibition area covers an area of about 6700 square meters. The exhibition area imitates the natural environment of Africa and is full of breadfruit trees and other plants. As wild lions bred in non artificial breeding environment, "Jinjin" and "Feifei" are very alert and alert. As long as they see people approaching, they will show their fangs and make a fierce roar, in an attempt to scare off the invaders with their roaring skills.
Lion and tiger Museum
A pair of ligers are on display in the liger exhibition area of Shanghai wildlife park. Liger belongs to Carnivora, Felidae, English name liger, is mainly the product of human influence or command, is the offspring of male lion and female tiger mating.
Monkey house
There are black capped and white fronted capuchins on display in the hanging monkey Museum of Shanghai wildlife park. Black cap monkey is the monkey with the most curly tail. They have a thick black hair on the top of their head. It looks like they are wearing a black hat, so they are called black cap
