Located on the beautiful island in the middle of Huangbai River, the Chinese sturgeon park is a national agricultural tourism demonstration site and a national popular science education base. It is a national 3A scenic spot of ecological and environmental protection integrating scientific research, science popularization and tourism. Relying on the Chinese sturgeon Research Institute, it has unique resources of Chinese sturgeon, rare and endemic fish in the Yangtze River and related scientific research achievements. A wide variety of rare sturgeon and Yangtze River fish will show you the magic of Chinese sturgeon and the rich and colorful aquatic life of Yangtze River.
Chinese sturgeon is a kind of magical fish bred in the Yangtze River and growing up in the sea. It is huge and powerful in shape. The adult fish can reach five meters in length, weigh more than one kilo, and live for up to 100 years. It is the largest and oldest fish in freshwater fish. We can see the trace of biological evolution from it. It has high scientific research value. It is a treasure in the Yangtze River and a "living fossil in water". It has a history of 140 million years and is a first-class protected animal in China.
Chinese sturgeon has its own unique life habits. In other words, Acipenser sinensis is a typical migratory fish that can survive in both saltwater and fresh water. When the male sturgeon is over 9 years old, it is 1.7 meters long and weighs more than 50 kg. When the female sturgeon is over 14 years old, it is 2.3 meters long and weighs more than 120 kg. When it reaches its first sexual maturity, it can have children. Every summer and autumn, groups of Chinese sturgeon swim back to the Yangtze River from the shallow waters outside the Yangtze River Estuary. After more than 3000 kilometers of upstream fighting, they return to their "Hometown" Jinsha River to spawn. After delivery, when the young fish grow up to about 15cm, these "wanderers" carry their children down the river and live overseas. In this way, they were born in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and grew up in the sea for generations, forming the habit of living abroad and never forgetting their hometown. It is because of this persistent return and root seeking habit that people call it "Chinese sturgeon".
Chinese sturgeon Garden
Chinese sturgeon park is located in Jiangxin Island of Huangbaihe River, Yiling District, Yichang city. It is named for displaying the first-class national protected animal - Chinese sturgeon. The park is one of the first AAA scenic spots in China. The scenic area covers an area of 20000 square meters, including sturgeon Museum, herbarium, crocodile Museum, tropical fish Museum, aquarium corridor, exhibition hall and the production and breeding workshop to be opened to the outside world. In the park, visitors can enjoy various specifications of Chinese sturgeon, which enjoys the reputation of "giant panda in the water", as well as up to ten species of sturgeon from all over the world, as well as Chinese alligator, alligator, Myxocyprinus, tropical fish and famous special fish from the Yangtze River.
Introduction to scenic spots
The Chinese sturgeon Park was originally the "Yangtze River Gezhouba Institute of artificial propagation of Chinese sturgeon". The Chinese sturgeon Institute covers an area of 12 hectares. It is the only professional scientific research institution in China to protect Chinese sturgeon, a first-class national protected animal, Nearly 5 million Chinese sturgeons of various sizes have been artificially propagated and released into the Yangtze River, effectively replenishing the population of Chinese sturgeon, so that this rare species of Chinese sturgeon will not be extinct due to the construction of the Gezhouba project and the Three Gorges Project.
In the process of artificial propagation and protection of Chinese sturgeon, the Chinese sturgeon Research Institute has made a total of 30 scientific research achievements at the provincial and ministerial level, formed a set of operating technical regulations on artificial propagation and protection of Chinese sturgeon, and cultivated a group of young and middle-aged professionals in the protection of Chinese sturgeon. In addition, Acipenser sinensis Research Institute has also actively explored the protection of other rare fish in the Yangtze River, and carried out the artificial propagation of Myxocyprinus asiaticus, a national second-class protected animal. It has released more than 10000 Myxocyprinus asiaticus, and has mastered the artificial propagation technology of Myxocyprinus asiaticus. At the same time, Acipenser sinensis Research Institute always adheres to the combination of scientific research, breeding protection and publicity protection, strives to improve people's awareness of environmental protection and the crisis awareness of ecological balance, and actively carries out popular science education. On this basis, in 1993, Acipenser sinensis Research Institute established a tourism company with Acipenser sinensis as the main tour content, and has received nearly 2 million Chinese and foreign tourists in the past decade It has achieved huge social and economic benefits. Party and state leaders and leading comrades of relevant ministries and commissions of the Central Committee visited and inspected the Chinese sturgeon Research Institute for many times, and fully affirmed the achievements made by the Chinese sturgeon Research Institute in the protection of Chinese sturgeon and other rare fishes in the Yangtze River.
There are 56 on-the-job staff in Chinese sturgeon research, including 33 professional and technical personnel (7 with senior titles and 16 with intermediate titles). It consists of scientific research center, office, party and mass department, finance department, logistics department, quality and safety assurance department and Yichang Chinese sturgeon tourism development company.
Chinese sturgeon
Name and origin
Chinese sturgeon used to be an ancient species coexisting with dinosaurs. In about 100 million years, the valley Yiling, after several vicissitudes, dinosaurs died out. However, Chinese sturgeon has continued to survive with strong vitality to today, becoming a "living fossil" of fish for people to study the changes of the ancient earth. Chinese sturgeon and its related specimens are displayed in the exhibition hall. From the specimen, the appearance of Chinese sturgeon and white sturgeon is very easy to distinguish, but it is very similar to Yangtze sturgeon. From the appearance, the individual is smaller. Chinese sturgeon is big and long. Its adult can be up to five meters long and weighs more than one thousand jin. It can be said to be the "king of fish" in the Yangtze River. Chinese sturgeon body shape imitation hammer, with a broom tail, wearing five elements of bone plate - a line of back, body side and abdomen have two lines, like a warrior's armor?! And the "nose" of Acipenser sinensis is very long, there is no bone plate on the body, is it good to distinguish? In 1982, the Chinese sturgeon, like the giant panda, was listed as a first-class protected animal by the state, known as the "water Panda".

brief introduction
Chinese sturgeon (Acipenser sinensis grdy) is a large-scale anadromous fish, which is unique to China. One of the most primitive species of fish in the world. As far back as 1000 BC in the Zhou Dynasty, the Chinese sturgeon was called King tuna. Acipenser sinensis belongs to the order Acipenseriformes. Sturgeons first appeared in the Early Triassic, 230 million years ago, and have been living in the Yangtze River Basin of China. They have never been found anywhere else. They can be called "living fossils".
form
Acipenser sinensis is a Chinese specialty fish. Its body is spindle shaped, covered with five elements of hard scales, long snout, ventral position and crooked tail. This is a kind of marine migratory fish. From September to November every year, it goes up the Yangtze River from Haikou to Jinsha River to Pingshan to breed. The hatchlings grow in the Yangtze River for a period of time and then return to the Yangtze River estuary for fattening. Every autumn, when the Chinese sturgeon migrates back to the Yangtze River, a large number of Chinese sturgeon can be caught in each section of the river, so it is known as the "fish king of the Yangtze River". The adult Chinese sturgeon is large and heavy. The male usually weighs 68-106 kg and the female 130-250 kg. It is said that the highest record is 500 kg.
reproduction
Chinese sturgeon spawns a lot, a female sturgeon can produce a million roes at a time, but the survival rate is not high, the final adult is still a small number. Because of the rapid flow of the Yangtze River, fertilization was carried out in turbulent waves, and the natural fertilization was incomplete, which eliminated a number of fish eggs. In the process of hatching, the fertilized eggs may encounter predatory fish and other enemies, or "strike the shore" and lose a large number of eggs. Even if hatched into small fish, "big fish eat small fish", there will be a certain loss. In this way, although there are many fish seeds, there are few that can grow up as adults. In fact, this is the result of the reproductive adaptation of animals in the process of evolution. In the process of ontogeny, the species with large loss of young offspring are more than others, and vice versa. This is not the arrangement of "God", but those species with less time and great loss have been eliminated in the long history.
grow
Although the Chinese sturgeon is huge, it only feeds on plankton and plant debris, occasionally swallowing small fish and shrimp. According to statistics, the upper reaches of the Yangtze River can produce 20000 to 30000 kilograms of Chinese sturgeon a year. Due to overfishing, low reproduction rate and long mature period (about 10 years), the population of this fish has been decreasing. In order to protect this "living fossil" from extinction, the relevant departments have listed Chinese sturgeon as the object of protection. However, some specific problems remain to be solved. For example, Gezhouba Water of the Yangtze River
