Beijing Institute of industry and technology is an independent public higher vocational college with engineering as the main subject. The predecessor of the school is Beijing coal industry school, which was founded in 1956. It started to hold higher vocational education in 1994 and was officially transformed into a vocational and technical college in 1999.

The school is located in Shijingshan District of Beijing, adjacent to the famous Xishan Scenic Area. It covers an area of 360 mu with a construction area of 190000 square meters.
