The predecessor of the school is the national northwest agricultural and Forestry College, which was founded in 1934. The direct economic benefits of popularization and transformation have exceeded 300 billion yuan.

Since the establishment of the University, it has won 40 national science and technology awards, among which 13 were presided over and completed; 72 provincial and ministerial science and technology achievements first prize were presided over and completed; and 1 Shaanxi science and technology progress highest achievement award was won. 1161 invention patents authorized by the state and 496 new species of animals and plants approved. 14367 SCI, EI and SSCI papers were published, including 2035 SCI, EI and SSCI papers of the first signature unit in 2016. Facing the development needs of national and regional leading industries, the University actively carries out the demonstration and industrialization of scientific and technological achievements. In China, we took the lead in exploring and practicing the new mode of agricultural science and Technology Extension Based on universities, and built the first batch of new rural development research institutes in China.
