Shandong women's college is a full-time regular undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of education and the people's Government of Shandong Province and jointly supervised by the Department of education of Shandong Province and the women's Federation of Shandong Province. It is the only women's College in Shandong Province and one of the three women's regular undergraduate colleges in China.

Its predecessor is Shandong women's cadre school, which was founded in 1952. In 1987 and 1995, it was renamed Shandong Branch of China Women's Management Cadre College and Shandong Branch of China Women's College respectively.
