Xi'an Aviation Vocational and technical college, founded in 1958, is a full-time ordinary higher vocational college with higher education enrollment qualification approved by the Ministry of education. It is directly under the Education Department of Shaanxi Province and faces the national enrollment. The college is one of the national key construction of one of the hundred model higher vocational colleges. The college is located in Yanliang District of Xi'an, a famous aviation city in China, and in the core area of national aviation industry base, Xi'an Yanliang National Aviation high tech industry base. The college has been rated as "national advanced unit of vocational education", "Shaanxi advanced unit of vocational education" and "provincial civilized campus". In 2006, it was rated as "excellent" in the evaluation of talent training level of Higher Vocational Colleges by the Ministry of education. In 2010, it passed the acceptance of the national model college construction project with excellent results, and was identified as "National Model Higher Vocational College" by the Ministry of education and the Ministry of finance.

The college, formerly known as "Yanliang first aviation industrial workers technical school of the third Ministry of mechanical industry", belongs to the former third Ministry of mechanical industry, and is one of the 156 key projects in the first five year plan period of China - one of the supporting construction projects of Xi'an aircraft factory (code "172"); In 1979, it was renamed as the third technical school of the air force aviation engineering department, which is subordinate to the air force. In 1985, it was changed into a full-time secondary professional school, and in 1994, it was renamed Xi'an Aviation Engineering School of the air force. In 2001, it was transferred from the air force to Shaanxi Province and renamed Xi'an Aviation Vocational and technical college.

At present, the college covers an area of 680 mu. At present, there are more than 11000 full-time students in ordinary higher vocational colleges, and 45 college level majors are set up, including secondary teaching units such as aviation maintenance engineering college, aviation manufacturing engineering college, aviation materials engineering college, aviation management engineering college, automation engineering college, electronic engineering college, computer engineering college, automobile Engineering College, covering aviation equipment maintenance, mechanical engineering and so on Equipment manufacturing, electronic information technology, aviation services and other professional categories. At present, there are 77 aviation, machinery and other experimental training rooms, 18 on campus training bases, including 7 central and provincial key training bases, and 209 off campus training bases relying on aviation industry. It has an aviation science and Technology Museum integrating aviation talent training and Aviation Expo, a CNC training base supported by the state, and a "National Aviation Industry Base Training Institute" jointly established with the National Aviation high tech industry base.

At present, the college has 7 national demonstration majors, 12 provincial key majors, 2 national excellent courses, 18 provincial excellent courses, and two 400m standard sports fields with complete facilities. The campus network of the college is connected to the Internet with 100 MB optical fiber.

There are 718 full-time and part-time teachers, 351 full-time teachers, 2 national excellent teachers and 5 provincial famous teachers. Chen Yijian, academician of Chinese Academy of engineering, is employed as honorary professor of the college, and more than 200 professors and engineering and technical personnel from universities and scientific research institutes such as University of Arkansas, Xi'an Jiaotong University and Northwest University of technology are employed as teachers and visiting professors.

The college actively introduces high-quality teaching resources at home and abroad, and has carried out international cooperation with more than 10 schools or educational institutions in Singapore, Germany, Australia and other five countries. It has received more than 130 foreign students from Singapore Institute of technology to study in the school, creating a precedent for Higher Vocational Colleges in Shaanxi Province to receive foreign students. It has established inter school communication and cooperation relations with the University of Arkansas, Singapore Institute of technology, canado college, etc; The college has close relationship with industry enterprises and brother colleges, joined industry organizations such as China Aviation society and Shaanxi aviation society, led the establishment of Shaanxi aviation vocational education group, took the lead in exploring the way of collectivization of higher vocational education, and gave full play to the leading role of national model higher vocational colleges.
