China Institute of labor relations is the only public higher education institution directly under the all China Federation of trade unions, which is jointly established by the Ministry of education.
The predecessor of the school is the all China Federation of Trade Unions Cadre school, which was founded in 1949. In 2003, it was approved by the Ministry of education as an ordinary undergraduate college and renamed as China Institute of labor relations. The university has a history of more than 60 years. It is a multi-disciplinary, teaching and application-oriented university, covering six subjects, including economics, law, literature, engineering, management and art.
The university has a trade union college, labor relations department, economic management department, law school, public management department, safety engineering department, culture and communication department, mathematics and computer teaching department, foreign language teaching department, ideological and political theory teaching department, physical education teaching department, higher vocational and technical college, trade union cadre training college and continuing education college and other teaching units.
The undergraduate programs include labor relations, law (labor law and social security law), social work, labor and social security, safety engineering, Administration (enterprise and institution administrative culture construction), human resource management, economics, financial management, business administration, administration, politics and administration, Chinese language and literature, journalism, drama, film and television literature, and hotel management The school follows the "characteristic development" of the major, combines key support with competitive development, and builds professional groups of labor relations, law, public management, safety engineering, business administration, cultural communication, etc. In December 2012, the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council officially approved our university to carry out the pilot work of cultivating professional master's degree postgraduates, authorized the professional degree category as master of Public Administration (MPA), and formally recruited students from 2013. There are four research fields for the master of public management in our university: labor relations, trade union work, labor and social security and public safety management. In 2018, with the approval of the Ministry of education and the all China Federation of trade unions, the University began to recruit master of public administration postgraduates (in the field of labor relations) in Hong Kong.
Higher vocational (junior college) majors include hotel management, tourism management, tourism English, etc. According to the characteristics of professional disciplines, industry demand and resource allocation, the school optimizes the allocation, with distinctive professional characteristics.
As of January 2018, the university has a total of 6562 full-time students, including 132 graduate students, 4722 undergraduate students and 1708 junior college students.
The school has 478 staff, including 295 full-time teachers, 131 full-time professors and associate professors, 12 experts enjoying special government subsidies, 1 national excellent teacher, 5 famous teachers in Beijing and 5 excellent teachers in Beijing. The University attaches importance to foreign exchanges and cooperation, and makes full use of its own characteristics and industry characteristics to carry out academic exchanges and personnel training with domestic and foreign teaching and research institutions. The university has carried out educational cooperation and academic exchange activities with colleges and universities, scientific research institutions and international labor organization in nearly 20 countries such as the United States, Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. In January 2017, the University signed a cooperation framework agreement with Hebei University to jointly train postgraduates; in September 2017, the University signed a comprehensive cooperation framework agreement with Renmin University of China, which brought the level of foreign cooperation and exchange into a new stage.
It is the most complete and complete university in the field of labor relations and trade union. It is the only university in China that insists on the undergraduate education of model workers. It is also the highest University for the training of trade union cadres. As the only university in China that insists on holding the undergraduate education of model workers, the university has provided more than 600 model workers of the Republic and "great craftsmen" with opportunities for further study and growth. So far, the undergraduate education of model workers has gone through 26 years. Many model workers join the ranks of trade union cadres after graduation. The school has two campuses, located in Haidian District of Beijing and Zhuozhou City of Hebei Province, covering a total area of 630 Mu and a construction area of more than 300000 square meters.
