Beijing Language and Culture University

Beijing Language and Culture University is a university directly under the Ministry of education of China. It was founded in 1962 under the personal care of Premier Zhou Enlai. In June 1964, it was named Beijing Language and Culture University. In 1974, Chairman Mao Zedong wrote the name of the University. In June 1996, it was renamed Beijing Language and Culture University. In 2002, it was simplified to Beijing Language and Culture University. Beijing Language and Culture University is the only international university in China, whose main task is to educate foreign students in Chinese and Chinese culture. It is known as "little United Nations". It provides professional education in foreign language, Chinese, information science and finance for Chinese students, and undertakes the tasks of training Chinese teachers and foreign language training before going abroad. After more than 50 years of development, Beiyu has developed into a multi-disciplinary university with the characteristics and advantages of language teaching and research, and the coordinated development of Chinese, foreign languages and related disciplines. It has become an important academic town for Chinese and foreign language and cultural studies and a cradle for training foreign-related talents. In 2014, the University made clear the goal of building a world-class language university and the strategic concept of building four academic squares.

Knowledge Beiyu

Beijing Language and Culture University has the longest history, the largest scale and the strongest faculty in international Chinese education and Chinese culture education. So far, the university has trained more than 150000 foreign students who understand Chinese and are familiar with Chinese culture for 176 countries and regions in the world. Many of them have become celebrities in the academic, political and business circles. Currently, Kasem Tokayev, under Secretary General of the United Nations and director general of the United Nations Office at Geneva, muratu Teshome watu, President of Ethiopia, Karim Masimov, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan government, Igor morgulov, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, Gubin, German sinologist, Eric Cornell, American physicist and Nobel laureate, etc Have studied in Beiyu. In addition, Beiyu has also trained hundreds of thousands of outstanding talents for China, including a large number of public overseas students who have received special foreign language training in the training department for overseas students. Now, most of them have become pillars in various fields of the country.

Since the 1990s, on the one hand, Beiyu has maintained its characteristics and advantages in the field of Chinese international education; on the other hand, it has actively developed related disciplines, covering seven categories of literature, economics, law, engineering, history, pedagogy and management. At present, Beiyu has one post doctoral mobile station, 15 doctoral programs, 30 master programs and 25 undergraduate programs. There are 1 national key discipline and 10 Beijing key disciplines. At present, the school has a teaching list of Chinese International Education Department (including Chinese college, Chinese further education college, Chinese accelerated college, preparatory education college, Chinese Education College), foreign languages college, advanced translation college, humanities college, Social Sciences College, information science college, international business college, English Education Center, physical education department, training college, network education college, etc A bit. It has a number of research institutions, including the Academy of Language Sciences, the Research Center for Chinese as a foreign language, the research base of international Chinese teaching, the Institute of Applied Linguistics, the Institute of language information processing, the Chinese language policy and Standards Institute, the capital international cultural research base, the Arab research center, etc. Among them, the center for the study of Chinese as a foreign language is the only national key research base in the field of teaching Chinese as a foreign language in China, and has been recognized as one of the "100 key research bases of Humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of education". The Arabic research center is the regional and national research base of the Ministry of education, the Chinese language policy and standard research institute is the research base of the national language and writing working committee, the international Chinese teaching research base is the research base of the national Hanban, and the capital international culture research base is the key research base of Beijing. In the past two years, the school has also cultivated and established "Confucius Institute sustainable development Collaborative Innovation Center" and "Chinese peripheral language and Culture Collaborative Innovation Center".

International Beiyu

With the continuous expansion of China's foreign exchange and cooperation, the relationship between schools and the world is increasingly extensive and close. At present, it has established cooperation and exchange relations with 301 universities and educational institutions in 51 countries and regions in the world, forming an all-round, multi field, deep-seated and fruitful international education pattern. The University and Harvard University set up Harvard Beijing college. Bangkok College was set up in Thailand. The university has carried out joint education with China and foreign countries in various forms, and carried out joint undergraduate or postgraduate programs with more than 10 foreign universities, including Webster University, George Mason University, Konstanz University of Applied Sciences, Manchester University, etc. It has undertaken 16 Confucius Institutes and has been rated as "advanced Chinese cooperative institutions". In recent years, an average of 100 teachers teach overseas every year, more than 400 students go abroad to exchange and study, and receive more than 1500 foreign guests every year.

Academic Beiyu

The school has edited and published five journals, including language teaching and research, world Chinese language teaching, Chinese culture research, international Chinese language teaching research, and national and regional research. All kinds of textbooks published by the school press have a wide influence at home and abroad. All kinds of colleges and training institutions in nearly 100 countries use the textbooks published by Beijing Language and Culture University.
