Hebei Medical University

Hebei Medical University is a key backbone University in Hebei Province. Its predecessor was the Beiyang medical college founded by Li Hongzhang, governor of Zhili and Minister of Beiyang in Tianjin in 1894. It is the first official Western Medical College in modern China. After the revolution of 1911, the Ministry of education of the Republic of China issued the 16th order in October 1912. Accordingly, Beiyang medical school changed its name to Zhili public medical school in 1913 and began to recruit undergraduate students. In 1915, the school moved to Baoding. It was called Hebei Provincial Medical College in 1932 and renamed Hebei Medical College in April 1949. In 1958, the school moved from Baoding to Shijiazhuang. In 1995, the former Hebei Medical College, Hebei College of traditional Chinese medicine and Shijiazhuang medical college were merged and renamed Hebei Medical University. In 2013, Hebei University of traditional Chinese medicine resumed its independent system. In 2016, the Ministry of education, the national health and Family Planning Commission, and the people's Government of Hebei Province signed an agreement to jointly build Hebei Medical University. During the 13th Five Year Plan period, the University formulated the development goal of "building a high-level medical university with distinctive characteristics".

Adhering to the fine tradition of "morality, dedication, preciseness and innovation", the university has become a comprehensive medical university integrating teaching, scientific research and medical treatment after more than 120 years of construction and development, especially over the past 30 years of reform and opening up. In 2005, the school put forward the motto of "Mingde Bo Xue Fang Zhiyuan". In 2015, the school established the concept of "student-oriented, teacher first". At present, the university has two campuses, five hospitals, 14 secondary colleges and 24 undergraduate majors, including 4 national characteristic majors and 4 provincial characteristic majors. There are 11807 full-time students.

The university has four postdoctoral research stations, including basic medicine, clinical medicine, integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine, and biology. 37 disciplines have the right to confer doctoral degrees, and 52 disciplines have the right to confer master's degrees. It has a complete medical education system to cultivate bachelor's degree, master's degree, doctor's degree and postdoctoral degree.

There are more than 15000 teaching staff in the whole school system, including 1005 professional and technical personnel in regular higher vocational education, 1537 professional and technical personnel in deputy higher vocational education, 117 doctoral supervisors and 1414 master supervisors. There are a group of experts and professors with profound knowledge and high reputation at home and abroad in this team, including 3 academicians of Chinese Academy of engineering, 1 national outstanding professional and technical talent, 1 famous teacher of "ten thousand talents plan", 4 candidates of national "ten million talents project", 2 scholars of yanzhao, 4 high-end talents of Hebei Province, 8 national excellent (model) teachers, and 8 teaching talents of colleges and universities in Hebei Province There are 11 teachers, 126 experts who enjoy special allowance from the State Council, 65 provincial excellent experts and 118 young and middle-aged experts who have made outstanding contributions.

The school has 5 affiliated hospitals, 4 Grade-A general hospitals and 1 grade-3 specialized hospital with 9139 beds. In addition, there are 5 non affiliated hospitals, 5 teaching hospitals and 28 practice bases with 25000 teaching beds.

The school is not only the medical education and medical treatment center of Hebei Province, but also the medical research center of Hebei Province. There are 1 national key discipline (foundation of integrated traditional Chinese and Western Medicine), 1 key cultivation discipline (Forensic Medicine), 1 key discipline of State Administration of traditional Chinese medicine (foundation of integrated traditional Chinese and Western Medicine), 16 national key clinical specialties, 1 National Key Discipline Cultivation Project Supporting discipline of Hebei Province, 4 strong characteristic disciplines of Hebei Province, 12 provincial key disciplines, and key experiments jointly built by the Ministry of education There are 2 provincial collaborative innovation centers, 3 provincial collaborative innovation centers, 1 provincial new think tank, 1 provincial philosophy and social science research base, 2 provincial Department of Education Humanities and social science key research bases, 20 provincial key laboratories, research laboratories and engineering centers, and 6 provincial research institutes. In addition, the school also undertakes the editing and publishing of 8 national and provincial academic journals.

In recent years, the university has continuously strengthened international exchanges and cooperation, which has become an important window for foreign cultural and academic exchanges in Hebei Province. It has established close cooperation with 27 medical colleges and scientific research institutions in 12 countries, including Japan, South Korea, the United States, Belgium and France. It has hired more than 100 foreign experts to serve as honorary posts of the school, and 446 international students are studying in the school. In addition, adhering to the University's purpose of serving local construction, the University actively provides intellectual support to local governments and enterprises, and has signed 43 cooperation agreements with a number of enterprises and institutions, covering personnel training, scientific research, production services, etc.
