Jiangsu University of science and technology is an ordinary university with distinct characteristics, which is jointly built by the province and Ministry of science and technology. The university has always insisted on serving the shipbuilding industry, national defense industry and sericulture, formed three characteristics of shipbuilding, national defense and sericulture, and gradually developed into a multidisciplinary university with coordinated development of engineering, management, agriculture, arts, science, economics, education, law and other disciplines.

The school is located in Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province, a famous historical and cultural city in the south of the Yangtze River with beautiful scenery. The school history originated from Shanghai Dagong vocational school, which was born on the Bank of Huangpu River in 1933. It was renamed East China Institute of shipbuilding in 1993 and Jiangsu University of science and technology in 2004. In December 2006, the University passed the undergraduate teaching evaluation of the Ministry of education with excellent results.

The school has three campuses in Zhenjiang and Zhangjiagang, covering an area of more than 2500 mu. At present, the school has more than 2000 staff, including more than 1140 full-time teachers, 141 professors, 307 associate professors and 58 experts enjoying special government subsidies. At present, there are 56 undergraduate majors and directions, including 2 first-class discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 6 second-class discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 12 first-class discipline master's degree authorization points, and 48 second-class discipline master's degree authorization points; there are 4 master's degree training types, including master of engineering, master of agricultural extension, master of business administration, and master of accounting, of which 10 master of engineering Domain. The university enrolls students nationwide, with 21980 undergraduate students and 2600 graduate students. The PLA has set up an office for the selection and training of reserve officers in our university, and nearly 300 national defense students are currently studying.

The university has undertaken a number of high-level research projects including national high-tech research and development projects, National Science and Technology Support Program projects, National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Social Science Foundation of China and national defense and military industry projects. The university has established comprehensive cooperative relations with the Political Department of the Navy, China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, China Academy of Naval Research, China Academy of Agricultural Sciences and other units, and actively carried out cooperative scientific research and school running with Ukraine, France, Australia, India, Japan and other countries. We have established long-term cooperation with a number of famous enterprises such as Jiangnan Shipbuilding Group Co., Ltd. The school has set up a cooperative development committee with more than 100 units. Lloyd's register of shipping, Japan's Changshi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and other enterprises have set up more than 20 kinds of grants in the school, with a total amount of nearly 17 million yuan.

Zhangjiagang campus of Jiangsu University of science and technology is one of the campuses of Jiangsu University of science and technology. It is an educational innovation achievement of Jiangsu University of science and technology in expanding school running space and co constructing with local governments. It is a public campus approved by Jiangsu Provincial People's government. It is funded by Zhangjiagang municipal government and run by Jiangsu University of science and technology. The campus was founded in 2005. The campus is located in the urban area of Zhangjiagang, with convenient transportation, elegant environment and complete facilities. It covers an area of 856 mu, with a construction area of 260000 square meters. An "ecological, digital and garden style" modern campus has created good conditions for students to seek knowledge and further study.
