North China Electric Power University is a key construction university directly under the Ministry of Education under the national "211 Project" and the national "985 project advantage discipline platform". The school department is located in Beijing with Baoding campus. The school has more than 3000 staff, more than 20000 full-time undergraduates and 10000 graduate students. The school was founded in Beijing in 1958, formerly known as Beijing Electric Power Institute. In 1969, he moved from Beijing to Hebei and changed his name to Hebei Electric Power University and North China Electric Power University. In 1995, North China Electric Power University and Beijing Institute of Power Economics (including Beijing Graduate Department of North China Electric Power University) were merged to form North China Electric Power University. In 2003, in the reform of the state power system, the school was transferred to the Ministry of education by the State Power Corporation.
