Zhejiang communications vocational and technical college, formerly Zhejiang Communications school founded in 1958, was established in 1999 with the approval of the Ministry of education. It is a public university.

In 2001, the college was identified by the Ministry of education as the construction unit of National Demonstrative Vocational and technical college, in 2002 as the advanced unit of national vocational education, and in 2004 as the advanced unit of national traffic vocational education. In 2005, it was awarded the title of "safe campus" by Zhejiang Provincial Education Department and the leading group of school and surrounding public security comprehensive management, which has been maintained up to now. In 2006, he was awarded the title of "advanced unit of Vocational Education in Zhejiang Province" by Zhejiang Provincial People's government, and obtained the excellent grade in the talent training level evaluation of Higher Vocational Colleges in the same year. In 2007, the Automobile Department of the college was rated as the advanced group of the national education system. In 2008, the college won the honorary title of "Zhejiang Transportation entrepreneurship and innovation in 30 years of reform and opening up". In 2009, it was listed as the construction unit of provincial Demonstration Higher Vocational College construction plan.

The college covers an area of 606 mu, with a total construction area of 238266 square meters and fixed assets of 530 million yuan. It has modern and digital education and teaching infrastructure and advanced modern education and teaching technology and equipment.

At present, the college has more than 8000 full-time students, 505 teaching staff and 322 full-time teachers, including 112 with senior professional titles, 188 with master's degree or above, and 71 "double qualification" teachers. At present, there are 1 national famous teaching teacher, 2 provincial famous teaching teachers, 4 professional leaders of national transportation higher vocational education, 1 young and middle-aged discipline leader of universities in Zhejiang Province, 5 top-notch talents of "283" in provincial transportation system, 5 training personnel of "new century 151 talent project" in Zhejiang Province, 11 objects of provincial young teachers' subsidy plan and 8 objects of provincial professional leaders in higher vocational colleges, There are 3 new talents in the teaching field of provincial colleges and universities.

The college has teaching departments such as road and Bridge college, automobile college, Maritime College, mechanical and electrical college, information college, humanities college, transportation management college, adult education college, etc. it has 30 full-time Higher Vocational Majors and 16 adult higher vocational majors. Among them, road and bridge engineering technology, navigation technology and marine engineering technology are respectively identified as national top-quality specialty, Ministry of education teaching reform pilot specialty and provincial key specialty.

The college takes the social demand as the goal, takes the employment as the guidance, cultivates the higher technology application specialized personnel which adapts to the production, the construction, the management and the service first line needs. When the students graduate, they have the corresponding professional post skill qualification certificate, and achieve "zero distance" between graduation and employment. All previous graduates are welcomed by employers.

The college has four universities, including Tongji University, Dalian Maritime University and Wuhan University of technology, which offer correspondence education, network education and "college to university" education for eight majors. Students can take part in the self-study examination of corresponding majors during their study in school, or take part in the "college to university" examination organized by the Provincial Department of education before graduation.

The college has established a series of systems and measures such as "award, assistance, loan, reduction and subsidy", and provided students with a large number of work study opportunities to help and support poor students to complete their studies.

The college attaches great importance to foreign exchange and cooperation, cooperates with Toyota Motor (China) Co., Ltd. in the t-tep project (Toyota education project), and specially opens Toyota class.

At present, the college has "Zhejiang Institute of Transportation Science" with independent legal personality, and seven affiliated institutes: Institute of modern logistics, Institute of automobile application technology, Institute of customer satisfaction evaluation, Institute of water transport economy, Institute of bridge and tunnel engineering, Institute of moral education, and Institute of transportation culture.
