Harbin Institute of physical education is located in the beautiful northern city of Harbin. After 50 years of development and construction, it has become an ordinary institution of higher physical education with distinctive ice and snow characteristics, reasonable discipline layout, coordinated professional development and remarkable achievements in teaching, scientific research and training. It is an excellent institution in the undergraduate teaching evaluation of the Ministry of education in 2006.

Harbin Institute of physical education covers a total area of 2781000 square meters, with a building area of 166500 square meters. It is composed of Harbin main campus and Maoershan ski resort. At present, there are 475 teaching staff, including 33 professors and 76 associate professors. There are more than 5200 students of all kinds.

At present, Harbin Institute of physical education and training has three master's programs in physical education and training, sports humanities and sociology, and sports human science; seven undergraduate programs in physical education, sports training, national traditional sports, sports human science, social sports, English (Sports English), and sports journalism; and three professional directions in sports operation and management, skiing, and construction and management of ski resorts. Physical education and training is a provincial key discipline, and physical education and sports training are provincial key disciplines, among which physical education is a national characteristic specialty.

The main campus has more than 30 indoor and outdoor stadiums, such as indoor plastic track and field hall, ball gymnasium, gymnasium, tennis court, badminton court, speed skating, figure skating and ice rink. The functions and facilities of modern comprehensive training hall and college student skating hall are in the leading position in the national sports colleges. In particular, as one of the ice sports venues of the 2009 World University Winter Games, the scientific design concept and complete supporting facilities of the college skating hall have been highly praised by the experts of the International University Sports Federation.

Over the past 50 years, Harbin Institute of physical education has been adhering to the characteristics of ice and snow education, and constantly strengthening the cultivation of ice and snow talents and infrastructure construction. Since 1999, the college has invested nearly 100 million yuan to establish a 2.6 million square meter alpine ski resort and ski teaching and training base in Maoershan Town, 80 kilometers away from Harbin. After nearly ten years of development and construction, the ski resort has become the largest teaching, scientific research, training and competition center in Colleges and universities with advanced facilities and modern management. It is one of the national snowboarding U-shaped field skills training base, Chinese college students' snow sports training base and one of the main snow sports venues of the 2009 World University Winter Games. In addition to ensuring the normal teaching and training tasks of the college, the ski resort has repeatedly undertaken national and provincial competitions and conferences at all levels. At the same time, it is open to the society and fully meets the needs of skiing enthusiasts. It provides strong intellectual and technical support for the development of ice and snow tourism and the promotion of winter national fitness movement in Heilongjiang Province.

Harbin Institute of physical education has carried out bold reform and attempt in the teaching, scientific research and training of ice and snow. On the basis of the first "ice and land double cycle teaching mode", it has also expanded the "ice and land double cycle teaching mode", which has successfully solved the problem of Limited conditions for professional teaching and training in non ice and snow period. It has received good teaching results and improved sports performance significantly In the continuous exploration and practice of teaching, we have trained many excellent ice and snow athletes. In the past half century, we have successively trained Luo Zhihuan, Wang Jinyu, Liu Fengrong, Shen Xue, Zhao Hongbo, Wang Manli, Yu Fengtong, Zhang Dan, Zhang Hao and other top sports talents for our country, making outstanding contributions to the development of sports, especially ice and snow sports .

Since the 10th five year plan, under the leadership of the new leading group, the college has been persisting in taking teaching as the center, reform as the driving force, and education as the foundation to continuously improve the quality of education and teaching. The scale of running a school is constantly expanding, the level of running a school is gradually improving, and the characteristics of running a school are more prominent.
