Zhejiang Vocational and Technical College of industry and commerce is an ordinary higher vocational college approved by the people's Government of Zhejiang Province. It has a history of more than 90 years. Its predecessor is Ningbo public type a commercial school, which was founded in 1914. In July 1975, with the approval of the provincial people's government, the school was directly under the leadership of the Provincial Department of Commerce (now the provincial commercial group company), and became a secondary professional school for enrollment and distribution in the whole province. The school was named "Zhejiang Ningbo commercial school". In 1998, Ningbo Vocational and Technical College of industry and commerce was actively established and approved by the provincial people's Government in December of the same year. In May 2001, it was renamed "Zhejiang Vocational and Technical College of industry and commerce", and became one of the first four higher vocational colleges approved by Zhejiang Provincial People's government.

The school is located in Ningbo, a famous commercial city and modern port city in China. It covers an area of 551 mu, with a building area of 217000 square meters. It has advanced modern teaching facilities, a library collection of more than 940000 books and more than 2000 kinds of publications. At present, there are six secondary schools, including school of business, School of economics and management, School of information engineering, School of mechanical and electrical engineering, School of international exchange, School of architecture and art, with 32 majors and more than 8000 full-time students. At present, the school has more than 500 teaching staff, more than 400 full-time teachers, including more than 140 teachers with the title of deputy high or above, more than 120 young teachers with master's degree or above, and more than 190 teachers with "double quality" in professional basic courses and professional courses.

The school adheres to the school running idea of "building the school with quality, strengthening the school with characteristics, promoting the school with management and prospering the school with service", and constantly carries out education and teaching reform. So far, there have been two teaching reform pilot majors of the Ministry of education, two provincial key majors and three municipal key majors; one electromechanical training base construction project supported by the central finance; two national excellent courses and eight provincial excellent courses. At the same time, the school is one of the first batch of national vocational skill appraisal institutes in Zhejiang Province, and the first batch of national electronic information industry talent training base in Zhejiang Province. The school adheres to the direction of serving the local economy, attaches importance to practical education, and strengthens students' vocational skills training. Since the holding of higher vocational education, it has transported nearly 10000 high-quality skilled talents for the development of local social economy.

Taking the cooperative education of industry, University and research as the breakthrough point, the university has continuously opened up new channels for cooperative education by learning from the advanced school running experience at home and abroad. It has cooperated with Youngor Group to establish Youngor School of marketing management, which has carried out multi-form and multi-level "order type" talent training earlier. It has carried out close teaching cooperation with Australia's homsgran college and established homsgran school In May 2006, the school, together with 20 enterprises and 8 vocational colleges, set up "Zhejiang Sanjiang vocational education group" to actively build a service platform Service oriented higher vocational education system. In 2002, the University passed the teaching qualification assessment of Zhejiang Provincial Department of education. In 2006, the school won the "excellent" award in the Ministry of education higher vocational college personnel training level evaluation.
