Beijing Vocational College of labor and social security, affiliated to Beijing Municipal Bureau of human resources and social security, began to prepare for its establishment in 1984, and formally enrolled students in 1986. Its predecessor was Beijing Institute of planned labor management, and began to enroll students in general higher vocational education in 1999. Since its establishment for more than 20 years, the college has vigorously developed higher vocational education. At present, the college has six teaching departments, including Department of labor economy and management, Department of safety engineering, Department of business administration, Department of mechanical and electrical engineering, training center and basic department. There are 21 General Higher Vocational specialties such as labor and social security, human resource management (Human Resource Service), urban management and supervision (safety technology of urban facilities), urban rail transit control, etc., involving many fields such as labor security, human resources, urban intelligent safe operation and capital transportation service, among which labor and social security specialty is rated as the teaching reform index of the Ministry of education The former Ministry of labor and social security and the Ministry of education listed CNC technology major as undertaking the training of national skilled talents, and automobile inspection and maintenance technology major as Beijing Higher Vocational Education Demonstration major. The college has obtained excellent results in the evaluation of talent training in Higher Vocational Colleges conducted by the Ministry of education, and has become a Model Higher Vocational Construction College in Beijing. Nowadays, the college has formed a school running pattern with higher vocational education as the main body and comprehensive and coordinated development of continuing education, vocational skills training assessment and appraisal.

The college has two campuses, North and south, with a total area of 288 mu, a construction area of 125000 square meters and a total assets of nearly 346 million yuan. There are 4770 full-time students in the college, including 3142 ordinary higher vocational students. There are 165 full-time teachers, 108 part-time teachers, 126 full-time teachers with "double teacher" quality, accounting for 76% of full-time teachers, 89 full-time teachers with master's degree or above, accounting for 54% of full-time teachers. Among the full-time teachers, there are famous teachers, excellent teachers and young teachers in Beijing There are 24 backbone teachers every year.

The college has a unique training room and training base. At present, there are 48 training rooms in the college, more than 60 training bases outside the college, and the total value of training equipment is 91 million yuan. Among them, the training bases of urban management and supervision, numerical control technology and automobile detection and maintenance technology are the training bases of higher vocational education supported by the central finance; the mechatronics training base is rated as the national high skilled talents training base by the former Ministry of labor and social security; the automobile detection and maintenance technology training base and domestic service training base are rated as the demonstration training bases of Higher Vocational Education in Beijing, The training bases for nine types of work, such as numerical control processing and computer maintenance, have been rated as the public training bases for vocational skills by the former Beijing Municipal Bureau of labor and social security. In view of the above conditions, Beijing has established the second vocational skill appraisal institute in Beijing University, which mainly undertakes the tasks of vocational skill training, assessment and appraisal of students in capital universities. The appraisal contents mainly include 32 major categories and 92 types of work. In the past five years, there have been nearly 30000 person times of vocational skill appraisal, and at the same time, social training and examination of high skills and new technologies have been carried out, with an average annual number of 66000 person times. In 2009, the college invested 20 million yuan to upgrade the training base on a large scale, and initially built a modern, high standard training center with the national leading level. The college has multi-media classrooms, academic lecture hall, voice room, computer room, library and other advanced education and teaching facilities, as well as natural lawn playground, football field and modern indoor sports center integrating basketball hall, badminton hall, table tennis training ground and swimming pool, which can fully meet the needs of teachers and students' teaching and sports activities. It has well-equipped student apartments, student restaurants, bathrooms and other first-class accommodation conditions and convenient and comprehensive logistics service management system. The north and South campuses have formed a benign development situation of overall coordination and efficient linkage.

For a long time, the college has been exploring the system and mechanism of school enterprise cooperation, adhering to the talent training mode of "work study combination". The employment rate of graduates has been stable at over 99% since 2006, and the employment rate of key majors has reached 100%. The college Party Committee attaches great importance to the construction of spiritual civilization. From 1992 to 1997, the college was awarded the title of "capital civilized unit" for five consecutive years. From 1997 to now, it has been awarded the title of "capital civilized unit model" for 13 consecutive years, and won the honorary title of "capital civilized unit model for ten consecutive years". Since 2005, it has been rated as "national civilized unit" by the Central Committee of civilization.
