[plant morphology] soshanhu
Perennial evergreen herbs, 30-50 cm high. The rhizome is cylindrical, fleshy, with annular leaf marks. The fibrous roots are slender and linear, yellow white. Leaves from rhizome cluster, lower overlapping, folded, long linear, 20-30 cm long, 8 mm wide, apex apiculate, both sides smooth glabrous. The flowers are small, dark green and white, with sweet fragrance, arranged in short spikes. The fruit is blue purple. It blooms in summer.
It is also cultivated on the rocks in the shade and wet places under the mixed forest on the hillside. It is distributed in Yunnan and other places.

Functions and indications: clearing away heat and toxin, promoting blood circulation and relieving pain, promoting diuresis and detumescence.
[usage and dosage] oral administration: decoction, 1-2 yuan. External use: tamping.
[selection of prescriptions] ① treatment of fracture, swelling, sores, laryngitis, tonsillitis, ascites due to liver cirrhosis, and renal edema: soushanhu (one to two coins) is taken in water. Fracture swelling, sores, can also be used at the same time with fresh smashed topical.
