[plant morphology] Apocynum giganteum
Perennial herbs. The stem is 1-1.5 meters high, with white pubescence. The leaves are opposite, papery, broadly ovate or suborbicular, 7-16.5 cm long and 5-12.5 cm wide, round or nearly truncate at the base, apex acuminate or indistinct, 3 cuspidate, margin sparsely irregularly coarsely serrated, upper part often double serrated, upper part rough, short strigose, lower part pubescent along vein network; petiole 8.5 cm long; stipules lanceolate. Flowers unisexual, monoecious, spikes axillary, up to 20 cm; female flower clusters above male flower clusters; flowers small, green, male calyx 4-lobed, stamens 2-4; female flower clusters dense, spherical, diameter about 3.5 mm, style 1, stigma linear, persistent. Achenes small, long obovate, with white hairs, most of them aggregated into globular. The flowering period is June. The fruiting period is September.
It grows at the edge of ditch, hillside or forest. It is distributed in Jiangxi, Hunan, Zhejiang, Fujian, Sichuan, Guizhou, Hubei, Shandong and Jiangsu.

Functions and indications: dispel wind, remove dampness, connect bone and relieve exterior cold.
[selection] 1. To treat head wind and fever: five shuisumajin (huoshangmao), seven kefengjian, three luofutou and one ginger. Take it in water, three times a day.
② Treatment of rheumatism and bone pain: shuisu root two liang, Shandou root, eight claw golden dragon each seven money, Zhuifeng umbrella twelve five money. Take one jin of good wine every morning and evening.
