Herbs Biennial. All covered with white pubescence. Stem from the base part of the branch, the lower part of the ground, oblique, 15-45 cm high, soft. Basal leaves opposite, upper leaves alternate, ovate or ovate oblong, 1-2 cm long and wide, margin obtuse serrate, base rounded; sessile or upper leaves short petiole. Flowers solitary in bract axils, bracts leaflike; petiole 1.5-2.5 cm long, far beyond bracts; calyx 4-lobed, lobes narrowly ovate, 6-8 mm long; corolla pale blue, with radial dark blue stripes; stamens 2; ovary superior, stigma capitate. Capsule 2-lobed, oblate cordate, wider than long, reticulate. Seeds navicular or oblong, ventral concave, rugose. The flowering period is from March to April.
Born on the roadside, in the wilderness. It is distributed in East China and southwest China.
