[plant morphology] and Alpinia officinalis
Herbaceous perennial, 40-60 cm high. Rhizome divergent. The leaves are oblong or broadly lanceolate, 20-40 cm long and 5-7 cm wide, apex pointed, base cuneate, entire, smooth and glabrous above and densely hairy below. Inflorescence racemose, densely rusty, 10-15 cm long; flowers white with red stripes, about 25 mm long; calyx cylindric, 1 cm long, 4 mm in diameter, apex 3-lobed; corolla oblong, apex 3-lobed, both calyx and corolla sericeous; labellum ovate, wavy notched, orange red; stamen 1; style 1, beyond connective, ovary inferior. Fruit broad elliptic, about 1 cm in diameter, red, surface covered with fine hairs; seeds numerous. The flowering period is from May to June. The fruit period is from September to October.
It grows on the edge of mountain and Ravine or under Forest Wetland. Distribution in Hubei, Sichuan, Zhejiang, Fujian, Taiwan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hunan and other places.

[usage and dosage] oral administration: decoct soup, 1-2 yuan; or soak in wine. External use: tamping or frying and washing.
[prescription selection] 1. Treatment of labor injury and hematemesis: jiujianglian (soaking in children's stool for seven days, taking it out for drying in the shade), a mouthful of blood and mountain sorghum. Half a catty of wine, one or two for each.
② Treatment of weak cough: Nineteen ginger with three money, goose intestines three money. Stewed meat. Two or nine ginger powder one or two, walnut kernel one or two. Add two liang of honey, mix well, steam hot, make longan big ball, contain chemical swallow.
