Branching shrubs, 50-100 cm high. The bark is yellowish gray and yellowish white when young; the branches are hairy when young; the stipules on the long branches are persistent and hardened into needlelike, about 3-10 mm long; even pinnate compound leaves, 5-10 pairs of leaflets, obovate or nearly elliptic, 3-10 mm long, 1-8 mm wide, apex obtuse or shallowly concave, with fine needle tip, silky pubescent when young, only very sparsely pubescent later. Flowers solitary, 20-25 mm long; pedicel covered with silky pubescence, 1 cm long, with joint near the middle; calyx campanulate, 9-12 mm long, 5-7 mm wide, densely pubescent, base oblique, calyx teeth broadly triangular, about 3 mm long, margin densely pubescent; corolla yellow, flag petal suborbicular, ear of keel not obvious. Pods oblate, linear, acutely pointed, 4-5 cm long, 5-7 mm wide, glabrous. The flowering period is from June to July. The fruiting period is September.
It grows on hillside, shore grassland, sand dune and dry slope. It is distributed in Northeast, North China and Shaanxi.
