[plant morphology] whole Chloranthus

Herbs perennial, ca. 30 cm tall. The rhizome is transverse and has many fibrous roots with special aroma. Stem erect, unbranched, lower part purplish, glabrous, nodes swollen, each node with 2 scalelike leaflets. The leaf blade is elliptic, 9 cm long and 5 cm wide, apex acuminate, base broadly cuneate, margin serrate, veins obvious; petiole is about 1 cm long. Spikes terminal; bracts undivided; flowers small, yellowish green, without perianth; stamen connective apex 3-lobed, extending into linear, ca. 1 cm long. Drupe obovate, green when hot. It blooms in summer.

Most of them grow under the wet forest and beside the ditch. It is distributed in Sichuan, Yunnan and Guangxi.
