Rhodiola
(commonly used Chinese herbal medicine in Tibet)

[plant morphology] Rhodiola rosea
Perennial herbs, 10-20 cm high. The root is stout, conical, fleshy, brownish yellow, with many fibrous roots at the neck. Rhizome short, stout, cylindrical, covered by many imbricate arranged scalelike leaves. There are fleshy leaves in the upper and lower parts of the flower stem. The leaves are oval, with coarse serrated margin, sharp apex, cuneate base and few stalks. Cymes terminal, flowers red. Follicles.
Born in high mountains and rocks. Distributed in Tibet and other places.

Cold in nature and astringent in taste.
Functions and indications: promoting blood circulation to stop bleeding, clearing lung and relieving cough. Treatment of hemoptysis, hemoptysis, pneumonia, cough, women's leucorrhea.
External treatment of traumatic injury, soup fire injury.
[usage and dosage] for internal use: decoction, 1-3 yuan; for external use: tamping or grinding.
