[plant morphology] Stylosanthes gracilis

Perennial small herbs, 8-15 cm high. Tuber fleshy, spindle shaped, with a few thick fibrous roots. The stem is slender. Leaves 1, subbasal, oblong, 3.5-6 cm long, 9-15 mm wide, apex acute or slightly obtuse, base gradually narrowed, sheath like amplexicaul. 5-12 florets form a partial raceme; flowers are light purple, bracts are small, lanceolate; perianth segments are short, close to a pocket, labellum is long, 3-lobed, middle lobe is larger than lateral lobe, extending forward, base has a distance, stigma is short. Capsule oblong. The flowering period is from June to July. The fruit period is from September to October.

On the wet rocks of hillsides. It is distributed in Zhejiang and other places.

[collection] the whole grass can be harvested in summer, and the tubers can be harvested all year round for fresh use.

[function indications] detoxification, detumescence and hemostasis.

[usage and dosage] oral administration: decoction, fresh whole grass 1-2 Liang. External use: appropriate amount of fresh rhizome, tamping.

[prescription selection] ① for snake bite, nameless swelling: mash the rhizome of Cymbidium sinense or add rice swill Tang juice, and apply it locally.
