[plant morphology] gall wood
Trees, up to 5 meters high. The bark is grayish yellow outside, and the endodermis and xylem gradually change from light yellow to brownish yellow after peeling, with extremely bitter taste; the branches have white lenticels. Leaves opposite, oblong, nearly leathery, 8-14 cm long and 4-7 cm wide. Apex acute, base cuneate, entire, lateral veins 8 pairs, both sides obvious, petiole 2-3 cm long; stipules large, ovoid, caducous. Flowers white, dense into a terminal round head, with leaflike bracts; calyx tube connected into a fleshy body, flowers 5; ovary inferior. Fruit fleshy, globose. The seeds are wingless. The flowering period is from August to September.
It grows near the top of high mountain or half waist in the shade and humid area. It is distributed in the south of China.

[clinical application] ① treatment of leptospirosis
Make Danmu injection (3 g / ml of ethanol extract of Danmu), intramuscular injection once every 8 hours, 2-8 ml each time, until 2-3 days after hypothermia. Patients with bleeding tendency were treated with 1 liang of Callicarpa (dry product), decocted in water for 3 times, and divided into two groups. 10 cases were observed. The temperature began to drop within 4-56 hours. The average time of temperature returning to normal was 4.3 days. Most of the main symptoms and signs disappeared within 1-7 days after treatment. There was no obvious side effect in the course of treatment, only some patients had mild diarrhea, some patients had high fever, chills, sweating, similar to penicillin treatment.
② Treatment of multiple inflammations
Intramuscular injection of Danmu injection 1ml (equivalent to 1g crude drug) every day, or supplemented with other symptomatic treatment. The treatment of acute tonsillitis, pharyngitis, upper respiratory tract infection, bronchitis, pneumonia, conjunctivitis, WHEATY, periodontal abscess, varicella infection, otitis media, burn infection, urinary tract infection and postoperative prevention of infection in hundreds of cases, mostly within 2 to 3 days effective. Except for local pain, no other adverse reactions were found.
