[plant morphology] Polyporus umbellatus
Herbaceous perennial, 30-90 cm high. Roots cylindrical, branched, brown outside. Stem erect, unbranched, longitudinally striated. Leaf blade irregularly serrate, lanceolate, margin 1-20 cm wide, lanceolate. Flowers in whorls form spikes; bracts 3 whorls, sessile, margin spiny serrate; flowers lilac, lip shaped. Achene with tuberculate processes and black spots on the surface.
Born on hillsides and fields. Distributed in Tibet and other places.
The tender whole grass of the same plant, Stachys umbellata, is also used as medicine.
