[plant morphology] Leymus chinensis

Small creeping herbs. The lower part of the stem is slender, transverse, yellowish brown, with many short branches and adventitious roots; the upper part of the stem is yellowish green, with villi. The leaves on the upper part of the stem are opposite, heart-shaped or kidney shaped, 1-1.5 cm long and 1.5-2 cm wide, with blunt teeth on the edge and sparsely white pubescence on both sides; the leaves clustered on the top of the short branches are acicular, 2-5 mm long. Flowers solitary in axils of acicular leaves, rose red; calyx 5-lobed, hairy; corolla tube short; ovary superior.
