Fan Ren
Fan Ren (1906-1971), whose name is fan xiheng, was born in Tongcheng. Famous translator and professor.
Fan Ren's father, fan Yingtang, is proficient in medicine and ancient prose. Fan Ren read four books and five classics from his father when he was young, and he was able to write poems when he was five years old. One day, riding on his father's shoulder, someone said with a smile, "the son treats his father as a horse." fan Ren replied, "the father hopes his son to become a dragon." this is the name of "child prodigy.". In 1923, he was admitted to Shanghai Sinian University and was expelled from the University for participating in the May 30th Movement. In the same year, he was admitted to the Department of French of Peking University, and served as a French teacher of Datong middle school and Secretary of Sino French cultural publishing Exchange Committee. He was a student, a teacher and a worker. He showed great perseverance and talent. He graduated from Peking University in the 16th year of the Republic of China. Two years later, he went to Luwen University in Belgium with public funds to specialize in French literature, comparative literature, historical grammar and comparative grammar. He has passed the master's and doctor's theses successively with excellent results and obtained double doctor's degrees. During the September 18th Incident, the manuscripts of the "Declaration of resistance against Japan" issued by overseas students in Europe were written by fan Ren. In the 21st year of the Republic of China, he returned to China after finishing his studies. He successively served as professor of French at Peking University, editor and editor of Sino French cultural publishing Committee, professor and Dean of Minsu Anhui Institute of political science, and professor of Central University.
During the Anti Japanese War, he organized the Shanghai international propaganda committee for anti Japanese and national salvation, compiled Anti Japanese books and articles, edited the front line daily weekly "international situation review", and wrote a special treatise on "Chinese nationality" for Oriental Magazine. In order to support the Anti Japanese War, he donated all the contributions of "travel in ancient China" and "nationalities of the Soviet Union". From 34 to 38 years of the Republic of China, he was the director of the Social Department of Anhui Province.
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, he began to work as a professor at Sinian University and then Nanjing University. Together with Xu Zhongnian, he compiled a French Chinese dictionary and translated and published nearly three million words of literary works and academic monographs. They are Captain Grant's daughter, Chinese orphan, Rousseau's Confessions, the art of poetry and selected works of St. boff's literary criticism. At the same time, "people's Shanghai" is translated into French and introduced to foreign readers.

In the autumn of 1929, he won the Boxer Indemnity scholarship and went to Leuven university to study Latin linguistics, Latin ancient and modern literature, comparative literature, historical grammar and comparative grammar.
In 1930, he got his master's degree with the best grade and wrote his thesis Voltaire and Ji Junxiang in Paris: a study of "orphans in China". After the September 18th Incident in 1931, when Japan invaded Northeast China, some students from Europe, such as Wang Bingnan (former president of China Association for friendship with foreign countries) and Chen chuanzhang (Professor of Fudan University), gathered in the Italian street of Paris to discuss and support the Anti Japanese war. Entrusted by the Chinese students' organization, they drafted the declaration of Anti Japanese and national salvation for students from Europe. The next year, he returned to China and actively participated in the Anti Japanese and national salvation movement.
In 1932, he passed his doctoral dissertation at the University of Leuven in Belgium with honors, and obtained a double doctoral degree in Latin linguistics and Latin literature.
