Zuo Qi
Zuo Qi (February 1911 August 26, 1998), male, Han nationality, major general of the founding of the people's Republic of China, was born in quantang village, Huaizhong Town, Yongxin County, Jiangxi Province. He joined the Communist Youth League of China in 1929, transferred to the Communist Party of China in 1932, and joined the Red Army of workers and peasants in the same year. He participated in the agrarian revolution, the war of resistance against Japan and the war of liberation.
He was awarded the rank of major general in 1955. On August 26, 1998, Zuo Qi died at the age of 87.
Life of the characters
Early experience
In December 1911, Zuo Qi was born into a poor peasant family in quantang village, Huaizhong Town, Yongxin County, Jiangxi Province. As a child, he was gifted and intelligent. His whole family spared money and sent him to school to study and write. He went to private school for three years and elementary school for three years.
Period of Agrarian Revolution
In October 1927, Zuo Qi took an active part in the struggle against local tyrants to divide their fields. In 1929, he joined the Communist Youth League of China. He became a member of the Communist Party of China in early 1932. In July of the same year, he joined the Chinese workers' and peasants' Red Army and served as the leader of the propaganda team of the Political Department of the 49th regiment of the 17th division of the 6th Red Army Corps. In August 1934, he took part in the famous 25000 Li Long March with the sixth Red Army. On the way to the Long March, Zuo Qi shot down an enemy plane with a rifle. Army commander Xiao Ke and political commissar Wang Zhen called specially to congratulate him, praising that "shooting down an aircraft with a rifle is the first of all in the army" and getting a commendation from the whole army. Participated in the 25000 Li Long March.
the period of Counter-Japanese War
During the Anti Japanese War, Zuo Qi successively served as the operational staff officer, chief of reconnaissance section, chief of staff of 717 regiment and political commissar of 359 brigade headquarters of 120 division of the Eighth Route Army. In December 1938, Zuo Qi was seriously injured. Dr. Bethune amputated him and became a one armed general. In 1944, he took part in the military action of going south and returning north.
During the war of Liberation
During the war of liberation, he served as deputy political commissar and commander of the fifth military division of the Jinsui military region, and director of the Political Department of the second column of the Northwest Field Army. In September 1945, the Japanese army declared unconditional surrender, and civil war was imminent. The Party Central Committee instructed the South detachment to withdraw quickly and return to the Central Plains liberated areas in the north. Zuo Qi and all his commanders and fighters went through hardships. On August 31, 1946, he returned to Yan'an.
After the founding of the people's Republic of China
After the founding of new China, he served as deputy political commissar and director of the Political Department of Xinjiang Military Region. He has lived, worked and fought in Xinjiang for more than 20 years and made important contributions to the construction of Xinjiang. After the Third Plenary Session of the 11th CPC Central Committee, Zuo Qi was transferred back to the mainland as deputy political commissar and adviser of Jinan Military Region. In 1989, Zuo Qi's name was published in the "celebrity list of Chinese calligraphy, painting and seal cutting" and became a left hand calligrapher in the Chinese people's Liberation Army. On August 26, 1998, Zuo Qi died at the age of 87.

In 1955, he was awarded the rank of major general, and was awarded the second level of 81 medal, the second level of independent freedom medal, and the first level of Liberation Medal.
