Overview of life
Li Yulin (1885-1965), born in a peasant family in Quantou village, Anxin County, Hebei Province, was proud of "single sword Li Cunyi" since childhood. Hao Enguang studied Shaolin, Xingyi, Bagua and other boxing skills. During Hao Enguang's eastward journey to Japan, he was also personally guided by his master Li Cunyi, and worked as a martial arts teacher with Li Cunyi in Tianjin "Chinese Samurai Association" and "Fulun middle school". When the Tianjin Samurai association was founded, Hao Enguang and Li Yulin left a deep impression on Li Shuwen and Ma Fengtu, the representatives of Bajiquan. In 1923, Hao Enguang was shot and killed in the battlefield of Ning'an County, Jilin Province. Li Yulin sold her family property and went to Ning'an to welcome the teacher's coffin. She took the responsibility of taking care of master's widow and orphan, and made master's orphan Hao Jiajun famous in martial arts. his noble style of respecting his master was praised by the martial arts Master Sun Lutang, and he was accepted as his disciple. After worshiping sun Lutang as a teacher, Li Yulin ate and lived with her teacher and got her true biography. In addition, she practiced hard and became a representative of sun Lutang's later disciples. When Li Cunyi returned home in his old age, he said to Li Yulin, "you have already practiced my kung fu. If you want to practice it again, you have to practice the skill of deifying the unexpected. If you want to practice this kind of Kung Fu, you have to go to sun Lutang, and no one else can teach you." So Li Yulin came to Beijing with Li Cunyi's recommendation to find Mr. Sun Lutang and worship him. This was about 1921. Three years later, Mr. Sun Lutang didn't teach Li Yulin anything. He just asked Li Yulin to stand in the three body style again. Of course, it was sun's three body style. Li Yulin was very unhappy in her heart, so she didn't practice seriously. However, Mr. Sun Lutang became more and more polite to Li Yulin. All his classmates in Tianjin called Li Yulin their senior brother. One day, Li Yulin asked to join hands with Mr. Sun Lutang and give him strength. Mr. Sun Lutang agreed. As soon as she joined hands, Li Yulin beat her and was gently opened by Mr. Sun Lutang. Li Yulin was afraid that Mr. Sun Lutang might be aware of his motive, so she left for a while. When Li Yulin went to Nankai University to give a lecture, she felt weak and sweating like rain. Li Yulin knew that Mr. Sun Lutang was proficient in medicine, so she went back to Mr. Sun Lutang and asked him for treatment. Mr. Sun Lutang said, "do you remember the morning?" Hearing this, Li Yulin knelt down to the ground and said, "the teacher is so famous, but I seldom see him do it with others. I only see him write all day long. If I can knock you down, I'll be famous. " Mr. Sun Lutang said: "since you have told the truth, you should quickly follow the prescription and apply the medicine. If it is too late, you will not be cured." So he handed Li Yulin a written prescription. It took a few days to recover. So Li Yulin knew that Mr. Sun Lutang's art level was unpredictable, so Li Yulin once again submitted a letter to his teacher. He has been learning from Mr. Sun Lutang all the time and has made great progress in his skills. He gradually mastered the essentials of sun's Xingyi Quan, sun's Bagua Quan, and sun's Taijiquan, and his inner strength became more and more abundant. At that time, few people in the Wulin could lift Li Yulin's arm, and because Li Yulin's movements were extremely fast, her strength was extremely strong, her body was loose and soft, and her Kung Fu was different from ordinary people, she enjoyed the reputation of "iron armed ape" in the Wulin. He became one of Mr. Sun Lutang's famous disciples. However, due to the incompatibility between sun cunzhou and Li Yulin, their backgrounds are different, and they are not good at words, so their misunderstanding is very deep. As Li Yulin is good at Kung Fu and older, most of her later classmates call her elder martial brother. Li Yulin also regards herself as a senior brother. For example, without his permission, he would not allow other disciples, especially those who started later than him, to see Mr. Sun Lutang easily and establish his prestige as the first disciple of Mr. Sun Lutang. Once, in the name of a teacher's rest, even Jin Yunting, a disciple with similar qualifications, was kept out. This practice made sun cunzhou very dissatisfied and misunderstood that Li Yulin had a different heart. Finally, the contradiction between them is irreconcilable. So sun cunzhou said to his father, "if you don't let Li Yulin go, I'll go." Mr. Sun Lutang was very embarrassed. As a result, Li Yulin went to Shanghai and sun cunzhou left Zhenjiang. But every time I see Li Yulin, I'm still reluctant. Sun Lutang only taught sun's boxing to his disciples. Therefore, the discord between the two seriously affected the inheritance and development of sun's boxing. From 1924 to 1925, Li Yulin worked with sun Lutang in Shanghai as a martial arts teacher of the "Chinese Sports Association" and President of the "Shangde Samurai Association". During this period, Li Jinglin got the essence of Wudang swordsmanship of "the first sword in the world". In the winter of 1929, Li Jinglin and Mr. Yang Chengfu jointly discussed and revised Yang style 81 Taijiquan by Chen Huiming and Li Yulin. In 1930, Li Jinglin met with Mr. Sun Lutang in Shanghai before he went north to establish Shandong National Art Museum. Li Jinglin said, "the button between cunzhou and runru (Li Yulin's character) can't be removed. Why don't you ask cunzhou to come back and let runru go to Shandong with me?" At this time, Mr. Sun Lutang's eldest son and three sons had passed away for some reason, so he agreed. At the same time, it was agreed that Yu Hualong, Li Qinglan and other students of Li Jinglin who were teaching in Jiangsu National Art Museum would also go north with the teacher. Soon after, Li Yulin said goodbye to Mr. Sun Lutang with tears and took up the post of dean of Shandong National Art Museum. Li Yulin was employed as Dean of academic affairs by Shandong National Art Museum, and then as Dean of academic affairs. Together with the curator and colleagues, he created the first textbook "Taijiquan handout" of the museum, which teaches 81 forms of Taijiquan. It is on this basis that the widely spread eighty-eight form of Taijiquan is developed. In 1936, Li Yulin established the Taijiquan society in Harbin (also renamed Harbin Taijiquan Research Society) and became the first person to introduce Taijiquan to Northeast China. Later, Taijiquan branches were established in Shenyang and Changchun, mainly teaching Sun Style Taijiquan, Yang style 81 Style Taijiquan, Wudang sword, Taijijian, Xingyi, Bagua and other boxing instruments. At the beginning, Taijiquan club was set up in South Badao street of Daowai. With more and more practitioners, it moved to a spacious house of more than 60 square meters in North Qidao street and changed its name to Taijiquan Research Club. There are businessmen, staff and students who come here for practice. More than 200 people come to practice every day. So that Taijiquan can be developed in the three provinces of Northeast China. In 1952, 18-year-old Zhao huankui took Huang Shumin as his teacher. It was not until he was in his twenties that he met the famous master under the guidance of his master. "Although he is in his seventies, his hair is not white and his face is red. At that time, he nodded to me, and I went to one side to watch the master fight with the masters, but the masters are still not the opponents of the master. "
Martial arts attainments
Li Yulin's Kung Fu is superb. Her arms are wrapped in iron, and her weight is very heavy. She is called "iron armed ape". The Sun Style Taijiquan is open and close with a drum swing, which is round and natural, while the Yang Style Taijiquan is open and open, thick and steady. Mr. Ma Li Tang, a famous martial artist, often refers to Li Yulin and Hao Jiajun, Li Yulin's famous martial arts teacher, and Li Tianji, Li Yulin's second son.
Anecdotes of Wulin
Song Zijia, an apprentice, learned from his teacher after the defeat of "kicking the hall". Song Zijia once practiced Xingyi boxing. He was confident that Li Yulin was strong and powerful. When he heard that Li Yulin was a famous master, he came to the boxing club to consult the "pusher". After they arched their hands, the harder song Zijia tried, the more he was swayed by them. He was panting and shouting, "it's amazing.". As soon as song Zijia tried his hand, he would not give up. Li Yulin took him by the arm and said, "I'm not sure. I can try again." Without saying a word, song Zijia knelt down in public and kowtowed to Li Yulin. He wanted to worship his teacher. Later, when song Zijia talked about it to others, he always said, "Mr. Li didn't know what skill he used to make me fall to the ground, but I didn't feel it." Song Zijia and his three brothers were later known as the "four King Kong" in the school. The four were outstanding in martial arts, but when they got to the teacher's hands and practiced pushing hands, they were still shaking and panting. The harder they tried, the farther they were hit. "The secret is that the Taiji push hand does not use force intentionally." Zhao huankui said.
