Zhang Daozhen

Zhang Daozhen (1926-2009.10.27), male, Professor, is a leading English teacher and a famous English grammarian. Tianjin Nankai Middle School Alumni, graduated from the Department of foreign languages of National Central University in 1947 (now Nanjing University). In the spring of 1948, he went to the United States to study, first studied in the Department of English literature of Washington University, and then transferred to Harvard University to study comparative literature in 1949. In 1950, in response to Premier Zhou's call back to China to participate in the construction, he taught in Beijing Institute of foreign languages and retired in 1996. Later, he was invited to Shenzhen University as a consultant to the president. In 1990, he went to the United States and settled down in the United States. He devoted himself to the reform of English teaching and returned to Shenzhen in the winter of 2000. On October 27, 2009, he died of illness in Beijing. He was 83 years old.

Zhang Daozhen spent his middle school days in Nankai Middle School. "Premier Zhou Enlai is my respected senior," Zhang Daozhen said affectionately.
