Among his classmates, he is the youngest, but he has the best academic performance.
In 1934, Zhao Liangzhang was admitted to Nanjing No.5 Middle School with excellent results. He worked harder and ranked among the best in all subjects. He began to contact with some progressive journals and received ideological education against imperialism and aggression. He made rapid progress. In December 1935, he took part in the Anti Japanese and national salvation demonstrations held by Nanjing schools in response to the student movement of 1929 in Peking. In 1936, he was engaged in the activities of resisting Japan and saving the nation. The vigorous movement of resisting Japan and saving the nation gave him great inspiration and influence, and made him undergo training.
In 1937, Japanese imperialism launched a comprehensive war of aggression against China. Zhao Liangzhang, who studied in Nanjing, also lived in Wuhan.
In 1938, eager to save the country, he joined the army and enrolled in the Kuomintang Air Force flight school, and was sent to the United States for training.
In 1941, after graduation, he was assigned to the 11th air force brigade of the Kuomintang as a pilot. He was eager to drive the Iron Eagle to fight against the enemy and perform meritorious service for the country. However, due to the negative resistance of the Kuomintang reactionaries, his ambition was not satisfied.
In 1944, Zhao Liangzhang was transferred to India to study. Because he was dissatisfied with the American education method, he returned halfway.
In the early summer of 1945, on the eve of the victory of China's Anti Japanese War, Zhao Liangzhang resolutely decided to leave the Kuomintang air force, give up his comfortable life and go north to Yan'an to participate in the revolution. With the help of relevant people, Zhao Liangzhang took an excuse to ask for leave, secretly went to Chongqing from Chengdu, and wanted to transfer to Yan'an through the Chongqing Office of the Communist Party of China. Xue Zizheng of the office warmly received him, praised his revolutionary actions, mobilized him to obey the needs of the revolution, and remained in the Kuomintang air force to work underground, so that he could play a greater role. In order to protect Zhao Liangzhang's safety, Chongqing office sent him out by car after he was disguised. After returning to Pengshan airport of the Kuomintang air force in Chengdu, Zhao Liangzhang began the underground work of the party. From then on, he was full of courage, confidence and strength for his future life journey. In September of the same year, Zhao Liangzhang was transferred to Beiping with the Second Military Region command of the Kuomintang air force, and was transferred to the Kuomintang air force command as a staff officer. According to the arrangement of the party organization, he got in touch with the staff of the CPC's military dispatch execution department in Beiping in time. In October 1946, he joined the Communist Party of China and realized his wish for many years. In order to facilitate the acquisition of intelligence, he managed to obtain the post of staff officer of combat intelligence section. Living in a tiger's den, he did not evade difficulties and dangers. He tactfully collected important information for the party and the cause of the people's revolution, such as the number of the Kuomintang air force, the station, the type and number of aircraft, the quality and number of aviation personnel, etc., which helped the Communist forces to take the initiative in the fight in North China and made a significant contribution to the liberation of North China.
On September 27, 1947, the Communist Party's underground radio station in Beiping was destroyed by the enemy, and the Kuomintang gendarmes arrested people with the name list. At the beginning of October, Zhao Liangzhang was arrested immediately when he finished his work in Shanghai and prepared to buy a plane ticket from Nanjing to return to Beijing. As an important criminal, he was successively imprisoned in the military law division of the general command of the Kuomintang air force in Xiaoying, Nanjing, the secret service bureau of the Kuomintang air force at 19 Ninghai Road, Nanjing, the military law Bureau of the Ministry of national defense at yangpi lane, Nanjing, and the Central Military prison of the capital special criminal court. At first, the enemy tried him under duress and tortured him severely. He remained unyielding. Later, when he had all the human and material evidence, he admitted that he was a Communist Party member. In order to cover other comrades arrested at the same time, he took all the responsibility on himself.
In prison, he also did a lot of ideological work for the guards to win their sympathy for the revolution. After Zhao Liangzhang's education, the guards were willing to buy books and newspapers for him and deliver letters. The judge who tried him was also moved by his just behavior. He once said to a friend who rescued Zhao Liangzhang: "Liangzhang is young and promising. He is really a talented person who can do a lot for the country. But he will directly intervene in this case as a major criminal appointed by Chiang Kai Shek. It is more difficult to release people than to go to heaven." In the early morning of October 19, 1948, the enemy killed Zhao Liangzhang, who was only 27 years old.
