Ling Shuhua
Ling Shuhua (March 25, 1900 to May 22, 1990) was born in an official and painting family in the ancient cultural city of Beijing. He was born to his father's fourth wife and four sisters, ranking third and tenth in his family. The splendid culture and environment of the ancient city inspired her talents and influenced her hobbies and life. Later, he made outstanding achievements in literary creation and painting.

Ling Shuhua's father, Ling fupeng, whose name is Runtai, was born in Hanyuan. He was elected in the 19th year of Guangxu. He joined Kang Youwei in the list of Jinshi. He successively served as Zhang Jing, head of the Ministry of household and military aircraft in the Qing Dynasty, the magistrate of Tianjin and the supervisor of Tianjin Arts and crafts Bureau and Xiyi Institute, the magistrate of Baoding, the salt envoy of Tianjin daochanglu, the Yin agent of shuntianfu, and the governor of Zhili.

In June 1926, she graduated from the Department of foreign languages of Yanjing University and won the golden key Award for her outstanding achievements. Chen Yuan left Beijing to work as a professor, Dean of the school of Arts and director of the Department of foreign literature at Wuhan University. Ling Shuhua also went to Wuhan University with her husband. At first, she lived in Tanhualin in the northwest of Wuchang, and then lived on the beautiful Luojia mountain in Wuchang. She became close friends with Yuan Changying and Su Xuelin, two other female writers who taught at Wuchang University. Living abroad
In the summer of the second year after the outbreak of the Anti Japanese War, Wuhan was threatened by the Japanese invaders. She moved to Leshan, Sichuan, with the school, and taught in Yanjing University two years later. The war brought her pain and anxiety. In the spring of 1938, she wrote a letter about her depression to Virginia Woolf, a famous British female writer. The latter wrote a letter saying "only works you can face the war" and encouraged Ling Shuhua to write about her familiar life and personal things. In 1946, appointed by the Kuomintang government, Chen Yuan went to Paris as a permanent representative of UNESCO.
