Kim Yong

Kim Yong, male, Korean, Korean American medical expert. Born in Seoul, South Korea in 1959, he moved to the United States with his family when he was 5 years old and grew up in Iowa. My father is a dentist and used to teach in University. In 1991, Kim Yong received his doctor's degree from Harvard Medical School and his doctor's degree in Anthropology from Harvard University in 1993. Kim Yong, a former head of Harvard Medical School, was appointed president of Dartmouth College in March 2009, becoming the first Asian president in Ivy history. On July 1, 2012, Kim Yong succeeded Robert Zoellick as the 12th president of the world bank. On September 27, 2016, the Executive Board of the world bank unanimously agreed to appoint the current President Kim Yong for a second term of five years, starting from July 1, 2017.

In 2011, 187 members of the world bank agreed to select a new president in a transparent and selective way. However, analysts believe that according to the voting mechanism of the world bank, the United States has the largest proportion of single vote and is expected to obtain the support of European countries and Japan. On April 1, 2012, Japanese finance minister Azumi said that Japan would support Kim Yong, the US nominated candidate for the president of the world bank and President of Dartmouth College.
