Character evaluation
Chen Xiaoxu's performance reflects Lin Daiyu's bewilderment and weakness in the original novel a dream of Red Mansions. Chen Xiaoxu makes Lin Daiyu miserable. Her actions and smiles are like a copy of Lin Daiyu. Chen Xiaoxu is not only beautiful, but also a talented woman.. Chen Xiaoxu's cousin Mei portrayed in the TV series "spring and Autumn Period" is not much different from her performance of Lin Daiyu. Both of them are extremely weak and melancholy. Chen Xiaoxu's poem "I am a catkin" written at the age of 14 is very simple and unadorned, which makes people really feel her peaceful heart. When Chen Xiaoxu was interviewed, her every move was very similar to Lin Daiyu. Her thin hand stroked the braid of her chest. She was quiet and beautiful, with a touch of melancholy (West China Metropolis Daily, Tang Qicai comments).
