Zhang Guozheng
Zhang Guozheng, born in Shunchang, Fujian Province on September 14, 1974, is a former national weightlifter.
In January 1999, Zhang Guozheng was selected into the National Men's weightlifting team. In 2000, Sydney Olympic Games ranked fourth in the men's 69kg class. On October 3, 2002, Zhang Guozheng won the gold medal in the men's 69kg class at the Busan Asian Games with a total score of 345kg. In 2004, Zhang Guozheng won the 69kg class in Athens Olympic Games. On December 3, 2006, Zhang Guozheng won the gold medal in the men's 69kg weightlifting final of the 15th Asian Games with a total score of 336kg, including 152kg snatch, 184kg clean and jerk. In 2008, Zhang Guozheng retired after the Beijing Olympic Games. In 2014, Zhang Guozheng returned to the national team and took the post of deputy head coach of men's weightlifting. He was mainly responsible for the men's grand level.
Early experience
When he was 11 years old, his brother Zhang Guoquan thought Zhang Guozheng was naughty and needed to find something to do, so he suggested Zhang Guozheng to practice weightlifting. On May 1, 1985, Zhang Guozheng won the second place in the 32 kg children's weightlifting competition in Jianyang, Fujian Province. In September 1987, Zhang Guozheng entered Jianyang junior sports school and studied under coach Xue Xingbi. In July 1988, Zhang Guozheng participated in the National Children's weightlifting age competition in the 40kg class, and won the first place in snatch, clean and jerk, total score and physical fitness. He was selected by Professor Peng Keguang of Beijing Institute of Physical Education (now Beijing Sport University). In September 1988, 14-year-old Zhang Guozheng went to Beijing alone to learn weightlifting. At the end of 1998, the National Weightlifting Competition was held in Changsha. Zhang Guozheng won the first national adult championship in his weightlifting career. In January 1999, Zhang Guozheng was selected into the National Men's weightlifting team.

In March 1983, Zhang Guozheng entered Nanping amateur sports school in Jianyang area of Fujian Province to practice weightlifting, with coaches Lai Zhicheng and Xue Xingbi. From 1988 to 1998, Zhang Guozheng studied and trained in Beijing Sport University, and coach Peng Kezhen. from 1995 to 1997, he signed a contract on behalf of Yunnan Province and was coach of Yunnan provincial team Huang Huaxin. In 1998, Zhang Guozheng trained at the training base in the northern suburb of Yunnan Province, with coach Huang Huaxin. In January 1999, he was selected into the national team under the guidance of CAI Yanshu. In the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, the men's 69kg class, in the clean and jerk competition, Zhang Guozheng lifted the 190kg barbell over his head for the third time, but failed to hold on, the barbell fell from behind, and finally ranked fourth in the total score. In the snatch competition, Zhang Guozheng succeeded in the first attempt to lift 155 kg, but failed in the last two attempts to lift 160 kg; in the clean and jerk competition, Zhang Guozheng lifted 197.5 kg in the second attempt, breaking the world record of 196.5 kg, and gave up the chance of the third attempt to win the championship with 352.5 kg. In November 2003, Zhang Zheng won the gold medal in the men's World Weightlifting Championships of 69.34kg in Vancouver.
