Wang Liqin
Wang Liqin, born in Shanghai, China on June 18, 1978, is a Chinese table tennis player.
Wang Liqin started playing at the age of 6, entered the Shanghai team at the age of 13, entered the second national team at the age of 15, and entered the first national team at the age of 18. He was selected into the national team in 1993 and won the third place in mixed doubles in 1997 World Table Tennis Championship. In 2001, Wang Liqin won three championships in men's singles, men's doubles and men's team at the world table tennis championships. In 2004, Wang Liqin regained the men's team championship in the world table tennis championships and beat Sweden's "evergreen tree" Waldner in Athens Olympic Games. In 2007, he won the men's singles championship in the 49th World Table Tennis Championships. On the evening of December 8, 2013, at the wedding of Olympic champion Ma Lin to his girlfriend Zhang Yaqing, eight national athletes, including Wang Liqin and Ma Lin, announced their formal withdrawal from the national team. On February 27, 2014, 11 male and female players including Wang Liqin officially withdrew from the national team.
He is now vice chairman of the China Table Tennis Association and member of the education, science, health and Sports Committee of the 13th CPPCC National Committee.

In 1995, Wang Liqin won the gold medal in the men's singles of the Under-17 group of the Global Youth Championships, and also won the second place in the men's singles of the national championships.
