Lang Xianping
Lang Xianping, Taiwan scholar, economist, corporate governance and financial expert. In 1986, he received a master's degree and a doctorate in finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania for two and a half years. Personal experience
Born in Taoyuan County, Taiwan, China on June 21, 1956, his ancestral home is Weifang, Shandong Province.
From 1974 to 1978, he studied in the Department of economics, Donghai University, Taiwan, and then in the Institute of economics, Taiwan University.
He received a master's degree in economics from Taiwan University in 1980. After graduating from the master's degree, he served two years of compulsory military service and worked as a journalist.
In 1983, with her mother's trust and strong support, she went to the United States to study in the Department of finance, Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania.
It usually takes more than half a year for Wharton to finish his doctoral dissertation in Finance (i.e. he only needs three times of time to finish his dissertation in 1986).
In 1986, he received a doctorate in finance from the Wharton School of business, University of Pennsylvania, USA. after that, he taught in a number of business schools in the United States, including Wharton School, Michigan State University, Ohio State University, New York University, University of Chicago, etc. He once served as a corporate governance consultant of the world bank.
In 1987, he became assistant professor at Michigan State University.
He became visiting assistant professor of Ohio State University in 1988.
Since 1989, he has been an assistant professor at the Stern School of business of New York University. In 1993, he was promoted to associate professor and was awarded tenured associate professor.
In 1994, he moved to Hong Kong as a chair professor in the Department of finance, the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
In 1994, he was recruited by many universities in Hong Kong at the same time. Finally, he "changed jobs" from the United States and became a professor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. In 1997, he was promoted to the first group of chief professor of the University and is now emeritus professor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
From 1998 to 1999, he was invited to be the visiting professor of finance at the University of Chicago, known as the cradle of the Nobel Prize in economics, and served as the corporate governance consultant of the world bank and the reform governance consultant of the Asian Development Bank.
In June 2003, he proposed to solve the problem of the original sin of private enterprises in an institutionalized way, and was entrusted by Yangrong as an "independent third party" to actively explore the institutionalized solution to the increasingly prominent contradiction between private enterprises and competent departments.
In 2004, Lang Xianping began to host the financial review program "financial Lang Xianping review" on the first financial channel of Shanghai TV station, which caused a sensation.

Lang Xianping only published 17 academic papers in four academic journals, including American economic review, Journal of political economy, Journal of financial economics and Journal of finance, covering finance, insider trading, corporate behavior, ownership structure, corporate control, etc. According to statistics, he published a total of nine papers in Journal of financial economics, which has the highest comprehensive citation rate in financial journals.
Before 1996, Lang Xianping was mainly engaged in the research of some basic theories and American market. Since 1997, his research focus has shifted to Asia and Eastern Europe. The dispute between Lang and Gu
