Pu Dabang

Pu Dabang (1935-1984), high energy physicist. He is from Changshu, Jiangsu Province.

Life of the characters

Born in Beijing in 1935.

He graduated from Changshu preschool primary school in 1947.

In 1948, the family moved to Taiwan.

He graduated from the high school attached to Taiwan Normal University in 1953 and went to the United States to study in the same year.

In 1956, he received his bachelor's degree from Hamlin University.

From 1958 to 1963, he received master's and doctor's degrees in physics from the University of California, Berkeley.

In 1979, he established the Institute of energy science in the United States and concurrently served as director.

In 1982, he was a member of the Advisory Committee of the Preparatory Office of the Institute of atomic and molecular research of Academia Sinica.

In March 1983, he accompanied Wu Jianxiong and Yuan jialiu to visit the Department of physics.

In December 1984, he died of a heart attack while working in Taiwan Synchrotron Radiation Research Center.

He was a professor and head of the Department of physics at the University of California, riverside. Advisor to the science and Technology Committee of the U.S. Congress.

In addition, the Institute of atomic and Molecular Sciences of Academia Sinica has set up the Pu Dabang lecture hall (located in the main campus of Taiwan University) as a memorial.

It has been used in atomic radiation by many body physics methods, and is well-known in the world.
