Jin Yong
Jin Yong (March 10, 1924 - October 30, 2018), whose real name is cha Liangyong, was born in Haining City, Zhejiang Province. He moved to Hong Kong in 1948. Contemporary martial arts fiction writers, journalists, entrepreneurs, political critics, social activists, known as "one of the four talents in Hong Kong", and Gu Long, Liang Yusheng, Wen Ruian are also known as the four masters of Chinese martial arts fiction.
In 1944, he was admitted to the Foreign Affairs Department of Chongqing central political university. In the autumn of 1946, he joined Shanghai Ta Kung Pao as an interpreter for International Telecom. In 1948, he graduated from the Law School of Soochow University in Shanghai and was transferred to the Hong Kong Branch of Ta Kung Pao. In 1952, he was transferred to the supplement of the new evening news, and wrote screenplays such as "peerless beauty" and "orchid". In 1959, Jin Yong and others founded Ming Pao in Hong Kong. Since 1985, he has been a member of the Basic Law Drafting Committee of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, one of the leaders of the political system group, a member of the Executive Committee of the Basic Law Advisory Committee, and a member of the Preparatory Committee of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. In 1994, he was appointed Honorary Professor of Peking University. In 2000, he won the great Bauhinia medal. In 2007, he served as honorary professor of the school of Arts of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. In September 2009, he was employed as honorary vice chairman of the Seventh National Committee of the Chinese writers' Association, and won the 2008 lifelong achievement award of influencing Chinese in the world in the same year. In 2010, he received his PhD from Cambridge University. On October 30, 2018, he died in Hong Kong, China at the age of 94.

Born in Yuanhua Town, Haining City, Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province on March 10, 1924, his ancestral home is Wuyuan (ancient Huizhou), Jiangxi Province. In May 1929, he entered Yuanhua primary school in his hometown Haining county. In 1932, I began to contact with martial arts novels, and the first martial arts novel I read was Huangjiang nvxia.
In 1937 (or 1936), he graduated from Yuanhua Longshan school (now Yuanhua Town Central Primary School); in the same year, he entered Jiaxing middle school (now Jiaxing No.1 Middle School) and left his hometown Haining. In 1938, the Japanese army attacked Zhejiang, Jiaxing middle school moved to Lishui, and entered the junior middle school of provincial union middle school.
In 1939, Jin Yong, a junior high school junior, and his classmates co edited a reference book for junior high school candidates. This is the first book of this type published in China, and also the first book published by Jin Yong.
In 1941, he was expelled for writing a satirical article about the capitulationism of the director of discipline in the wall newspaper, Alice's roaming, and the principal Zhang Yintong introduced him to transfer to Quzhou.
He graduated from Quzhou middle school in Zhejiang Province in 1942 and was admitted to the Department of foreign affairs of Chongqing Central University of Political Science in 1944. He complained to the school authorities because he was dissatisfied with the behavior of student party members and was expelled. Later, he took a temporary post in the Central Library and read a lot of books.
After the victory of the Anti Japanese war in 1945, he returned home and worked as a field reporter for Southeast daily in Hangzhou.
In 1946, he went to the Department of law, School of law, Soochow University, Shanghai to study international law; in the autumn of the same year, he joined Shanghai Ta Kung Pao as an interpreter of international telecommunications. In 1948, after graduation, transferred to Ta Kung Pao Hongkong branch.
In 1950, Ta Kung Pao's new evening news started publication, transferred to a supplement, presided over the column "afternoon tea house", also worked as a translator and reporter, shared a desk with Liang Yusheng (formerly known as Chen Wentong), and wrote many literary sketches and film reviews (pseudonyms Yao Fulan and Lin Huan).
In 1955, in Ta Kung Pao, Liang Yusheng and Chen Fan (the leader of the hundred swords Hall), he set up essays on the three swords tower and became a columnist. In the same year, he first wrote the first martial arts novel, the book of love and hatred, under the pseudonym of "Jin Yong".
In 1956, he published "blue blood sword" in Hong Kong business daily. In 1957, he joined the great wall film company and worked as a full-time screenwriter. He wrote such plays as "peerless beauty", "orchid", "don't leave me", "three loves", "little pigeon girl" and "midnight zither", and co directed "you Nu Huai Chun" and "King Tiger snatches a bride" (pseudonym used is Lin Huan).
In 1959, Jin Yong and others founded Ming Pao in Hong Kong, and later launched a series of newspapers including Ming Pao evening news, Ming Pao Monthly, Ming Pao Weekly, and Malaysia's new Ming Daily. Jin Yong also established Ming Pao publishing house and Ming Chuang publishing house. In the same year, he serialized "God carving swordsman" in his own Ming Pao.
In 1972, he announced that he would stop writing and quit the martial arts circle. After that, he began to revise his previous martial arts works.
In the spring of 1973, he went to Taiwan at the invitation of the local government of Taiwan and met with Jiang Jingguo for talks. After the cultural revolution, Jin Yong visited Chinese mainland in 1981 and 1984, and he met with Deng Xiaoping and Hu Yaobang in Beijing.
In 1985, the Basic Law Drafting Committee of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region was established. As one of its members, Jin Yong served as the head of the Hong Kong side of the basic law political system drafting group and a member of the economic system drafting group. From 1985 to 1989, he was a member of the Drafting Committee of the basic law of Hong Kong, head of the political system group, and member of the Executive Committee of the Advisory Committee on the basic law of Hong Kong.
In 1988, he and cha Jimin put forward the "political system coordination plan" (also known as "double check plan", mainstream plan). In 1989, he resigned from the drafting committee and the Advisory Committee of the basic law and ended his political career. In the same year, at the tea party celebrating the 30th anniversary of the founding of Ming Pao, he announced that he would step down from the post of president and only serve as the chairman of the group.
On January 23, 1991, Ming Pao Enterprise Co., Ltd. was registered and established. On March 22, he was listed on the stock exchange of Hong Kong. After the listing, he withdrew from the management of the newspaper industry. In the same year, Ming Pao Enterprise was listed and served as the chairman of the board. He signed a three-year service contract with Yu Pinhai and reached an agreement with Zhicai to acquire Ming Pao Enterprise technically.
In 1993, he visited Beijing during the NPC and CPPCC sessions and was received by Jiang Zemin. In April of the same year, he announced that he would resign as chairman of the board of directors of Ming Pao and become honorary chairman. He also sold Ming Pao group to Yu Pinhai and announced that he would retire completely.
In 1994, he returned home to attend the 90th anniversary celebration of Jiaxing No.1 middle school and built "Jinyong library" in Jiaxing College. After the completion of the library, another 14 million yuan will be spent to build the "Yunsong bookstore" in the West Lake for personal collection, writing and communication with literary friends. In October of the same year, he was employed as an honorary professor by Peking University.
In 1995, he was a member of the Preparatory Committee of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. In March of the same year, he was appointed Honorary Professor of Zhejiang University.
In the autumn of 1996, when the "Yunsong bookstore" was completed, it changed its original intention and resolutely donated a large sum of money to build the bookstore. Now it has become a new tourist attraction in Hangzhou, with a collection of Jin Yong's works and handwriting exhibition room.
In 1999, he was employed as the first Dean of the school of Humanities of Zhejiang University. In 2000, he won the great Bauhinia medal; in March of the same year, he was employed as doctoral supervisor of Zhejiang University. On October 18, 2003, he was appointed Honorary Professor of Sun Yat sen University. In 2005, Cambridge University awarded Jin Yong the honorary doctorate of literature.
In November 2007, he was invited to chair a lecture entitled "the general trend of Chinese history" at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and served as honorary professor of CUHK. He resigned from the post of dean of Humanities College of Zhejiang University.
In September 2009, he was appointed honorary vice chairman of the Seventh National Committee of the Chinese Writers Association. In 2010, the University of Cambridge awarded Jin Yong an honorary academician and doctor of philosophy. In 2011, Tsinghua University in Taiwan awarded Jin Yong an honorary doctorate.
On March 10, 2014, he celebrated his 90th birthday in various fields, with 8.4 million words handwritten by martial arts fans.
In March 2016, Ma Yun led Taobao crowdfunding to celebrate his 92nd birthday; in December, he was elected as the 10th honorary member of the Chinese Federation of literary and art circles. On October 30, 2018, he died in Hong Kong at the age of 94.
Personal life

His family is cha family in Haining, Zhejiang Province. His family is a scholar. Jin Yong himself is the descendant of Cha Kui, the grandson of Cha Sheng.
Cha Wenqing, Jin Yong's grandfather, was proud and loyal. He was dissatisfied with foreigners' bullying of Chinese people. At that time, some people burned churches. As an official, he took the lead in resigning in order to protect the people. Influenced by his grandfather, Jin Yong understood that only by reading books can he save the suffering of the nation, so he especially loved reading books about history, such as Zizhitongjian and the twenty five histories. Another person who deeply influenced Jin Yong was his father zhashuqing. When Jin Yong was a child, his father cut and saved the martial arts novel Huangjiang nvxia to him every day, which made him have a strong interest in martial arts novels. Later, he took the initiative to read works such as outlaws of the marsh and seven heroes and five righteousness, which laid the foundation for writing martial arts novels in the future.
In the Qing Dynasty, the cha family had "seven Jinshi in one school and five Hanlin in uncles and nephews.". Xu family is a rich merchant in the ancient town, whose ancestors have been running soy sauce garden, silk shop and bank. Jin Yong's biological mother Xu Lu is the youngest cousin of Xu Zhimo's father. In 1914, Xu Lu married zhashuqing. After getting married, Xu Lu and Zha Shuqing had deep feelings. They gave birth to five sons, Zha liangkeng, Zha Liangyong, Zha lianghao, Zha Liangdong, Zha Liangyu, and two daughters, Zha liangxiu and Zha Liangxuan. In 1937, Xu Lu died of acute bacillary dysentery. In this year, Jin Yong was only 13 years old.
Gu Xiuying, Jin Yong's stepmother, used to be yueyun, the servant girl of the cha family. Gu Xiuying was sent to the cha family when she was 11 years old. At first, she served Jin Yong's grandmother. When she was in her 20s, she was taken back by her mother and later went to Shanghai to work as a maid. As a result, she did not cross the river with Zha when she fled
