Over 10000 American teenagers went to China for exchange and learning in the past year

Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng said that in the past year, 14000 American teenagers have gone to China for exchange and learning.

The Chinese Embassy in the United States held a themed event on cultural exchanges between Chinese and American youth on December 6th local time. Xie Feng said in his speech that Chinese President Xi Jinping announced in San Francisco last November that he is willing to invite 50000 American teenagers to come to China for exchange and learning in the next five years. For this purpose, China has established the "American Youth Ambassador Exchange and Learning Program", abbreviated as the YES project.

Xie Feng said that so far, 14000 American teenagers have gone to China for exchange and learning. He also described that this has built an effective platform for young people from both countries to get to know and date each other, opening an important window for perceiving and understanding China.

Xie Feng also pointed out that in the past few years, cultural exchanges between the youth of the two countries have encountered headwinds and setbacks, but with the joint efforts of both sides, we have still heard many encouraging good news. He said that we should continue to eliminate interference, break through the "cicada effect", oppose reversing history, move forward in unity, pave the way for people to people and cultural exchanges between the two countries, and let the source of China US relations continue to flow.

Xie Feng stated that China US relations are once again at a crossroads of where to go. The Chinese side's commitment to the stable, healthy, and sustainable development of China US relations has not changed, and the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation in handling China US relations have not changed. We hope that the US and China will move towards each other, strengthen dialogue and communication, properly manage differences, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, and find a new path of correct coexistence between China and the US in the new era.
