Southwest University of Finance and Economics is a national key university under the Ministry of Education's "211 Project" and "985 Project" dominant disciplines innovation platform. It is also the first national "double first-class" construction university. The school is situated in Chengdu, a famous historical and cultural city in China, with Guanghua and Liulin campuses, covering more than 2300 mu. Campus lakes, willow shadows, grass and trees, dancing scholars, is a magnificent view, is a famous "garden-style college", is the ideal garden for study and study.

Guanghua University was founded in Shanghai in 1925. In 1938, the Chengdu Branch of Guanghua University was established because of the civil relocation during the Anti-Japanese War. From 1952 to 1953, Sichuan Institute of Finance and Economics was established by gathering the departments of Finance and economics of 17 colleges and universities in Southwest China. It was one of the four financial and Economic Colleges in the National University District layout at the beginning of the founding of the People's Republic of China. After 1960, it was reinstated as Sichuan Institute of Finance and Economics in 1978 after its establishment, merger and renaming. In 1979, Sichuan Provincial People's Government was assigned to the People's Bank of China, gradually forming a unique financial industry background and outstanding financial discipline advantages. In 1985, it was renamed Southwest University of Finance and Economics. In 1997, it became the key construction University of "211 Project". In 2000, it was transferred to the management of the Ministry of Education with an independent system. In 2011, it became the dominant discipline innovation platform of "985 Project". In 2017, it became the first national "double first-class" construction university.

It has developed the university spirit of "benefiting the people through the world and striving diligently", laid the academic foundation of "opening up, tolerance, seeking truth and innovation", and fostered "governing the country, rejuvenating the nation, and striving for transcendence". The talent of contributing to society has created a historical monument of "developing the Journal of the state and the nation".

The school is committed to cultivating all-round development of moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic and labor, with a sense of social responsibility, innovative spirit, international vision of the financial field of outstanding talent. There are 27 colleges (centers) and other teaching units, 35 undergraduate majors, of which 8 are national characteristic majors. There are more than 21,000 full-time students, including 14,700 ordinary full-time undergraduates, 5,700 master students and 740 doctoral students. Since its establishment, the school has provided a large number of excellent talents for national economic construction and social development, and has become an important base for training high-level talents in national financial, economic and management departments. The overall employment rate of students has remained above 95%, the rate of Undergraduates'postgraduate entrance examination and further study abroad has remained around 40%, and a large number of financial industry leaders have emerged among more than 170,000 alumni, which is known as "China's financial talent pool".

The school has a number of faculty members, such as the national economic training base, the National University Students'cultural quality education base, the national law education practice base, the national education demonstration center, the experimental teaching center of economic management, the experimental teaching center of modern financial innovation and the demonstration center of teacher's teaching development. Strong teaching and research institutes; School-sponsored Economist and Financial Science have been awarded as well-known social sciences journals and top-quality journals of colleges and universities in China; the first financial English academic journal in China, Financial Innovation, has been included by ESCI; and has a modern digital library with a rich collection, which is also in the southwest at present. It is the largest financial and economic documentation center in the district and has the only monetary and Financial Museum in the southwest region.

Schools continue to strengthen the strategic leadership of discipline development, focusing on building a distinctive, prominent advantages, rational structure and dynamic discipline ecological system. Currently, there are seven doctoral degree-authorized first-level disciplines in theoretical economics, applied economics, business administration, management science and engineering, statistics, sociology and law, six master's degree-authorized first-level disciplines and 19 professional degree-authorized points, and four national key disciplines in finance, political economics, accounting and statistics. There are four post-doctoral mobile stations: theoretical economics, applied economics, business administration and management science and engineering. Applied Economics has entered the ranks of world-class discipline construction; Business Administration has passed the double certification of EQUIS and China's high-quality MBA; China's mainland is the first to pass the double certification of AACSB business and accounting.

In-depth implementation of the innovation-driven strategy, the school adheres to the combination of serving the country's major needs and the frontier of disciplines, focuses on major practical issues, strengthens applied research, and produces a large number of high-level research results. The first batch of "National Research Center of Socialist Political Economy with Chinese Characteristics" approved by the Ministry of Propaganda has a number of new high-end intellectuals, such as "China Financial Research Center", "Financial Security and Development Discipline Innovation and Intellectual Reference Base", "China Family Financial Investigation Center", "Western Finance Think Tank" and so on, which are the key research bases of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education. We should strengthen the study of major theoretical and practical issues concerning the development of the country, industry, regional economy and society, and focus on building national "financial think tanks" and "western financial and economic think tanks". Give full play to the advantages of disciplines, specialties and talents, actively respond to the state's precise poverty alleviation strategy, actively carry out Counterpart Assistance work, and bravely shoulder the social responsibility of universities.

The school vigorously implements the strategy of strengthening the school by talents. In the magnificent course of running a school, there are a lot of Humanities and famous teachers. Masters such as Hu Shi, Qian Zhongshu, Xu Zhimo and Ye Shengtao preached here; famous economists such as Xie Lin, Chen Leopard Yin, Tang Xianglong, Xu Tingxing and Liu Shibai taught here to solve their doubts. There are 2039 faculty members and more than 1300 full-time teachers, including more than 300 professors, 530 associate professors, 310 doctoral supervisors, more than 300 full-time returnees and 7 specially appointed overseas deans, which has formed the "clustering effect" of talents at home and abroad. The school has carried out a deep opening strategy and strengthened international exchanges and cooperation at a high level, in a wide range of fields and through multiple channels. It has established extensive cooperative relations with nearly 200 well-known universities, scientific research institutions and well-known enterprises in more than 40 countries and regions in the world. We have been awarded a Sino foreign cooperative education project, offering full English majors, and training students to go abroad (territory) scholarship and "one belt and one way" international student scholarship. With the University of California, Berkeley, Stanford University and Dow Fortune Bank, we have jointly established the International Alliance for Risk Data Analysis and the International Joint Laboratory of Financial Science and Technology. There are two Confucius Institutes and the first Chengdu Base for the International Promotion of Chinese Language in Sichuan. The influence of Discover SWUFE summer school is increasing.
