Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum

Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum, a national AAAA tourist attraction, is located at No.2 Jinsha Ruins Road, Qingyang District, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. It covers an area of 456 Mu and a building area of 38000 square meters. In June 2006, the cultural relics exhibition hall of Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum opened. On April 16, 2007, Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum officially opened. In January 2009, the cultural relics protection center of Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum was basically completed. Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum is a heritage museum built to protect, study and display Jinsha culture and ancient Shu civilization.

Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum has 2235 pieces (sets) of cultural relics, including gold, bronze, jade, stone, lacquer wood, pottery, ivory and so on. Among them, there are 366 first-class cultural relics, 374 second-class cultural relics and 1429 third-class cultural relics.

In 2007, Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum was rated as a national AAAA tourist attraction. On November 15, 2012, Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum was listed as a national first-class Museum by the State Administration of cultural relics. On October 11, 2018, Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum was listed as the "national primary and secondary school students' research, learning and practice education base" by the Ministry of education. On May 18, 2020, Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum was awarded the title of "the most innovative Museum in China in 2020" by China Museum Association.

In March 2020, in order to thank the national medical staff for their dedication, the front-line medical staff and their families of Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum will be free of charge within the year.

Evolution of construction

On February 8, 2001, the Jinsha site was discovered.

In 2002, the Jinsha Site Museum international competition attracted the participation of nine well-known design institutions from the United States, France, Germany and China. Finally, the architectural design and Research Institute of Tsinghua University was selected as the bid winner and implementation plan with its novel concept and proper respect for the remains.

On December 18, 2005, the memorial sculpture of "sun god bird" was unveiled in Jinsha Site Museum and set up as a scenic spot.

In June 2006, the cultural relics exhibition hall of Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum opened.

On April 16, 2007, Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum officially opened.

In january2009, the cultural relics protection center of Jinsha Site Museum in Chengdu was basically completed.

Architectural pattern

Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum covers an area of 456 mu, with a construction area of 38000 square meters. Chengdu's Mudi river flows through the museum from west to East, and the riverside scenery on both sides constitutes the horizontal landscape axis of the museum; from the south to the north, the archaeological excavation site and exhibition hall of Jinsha site are visited successively, and the North-South open space constitutes the vertical cultural axis of the museum. Around the museum building is the garden area. The memorial sculpture of Chinese cultural heritage is located near the main passageway between the South Gate of Jinsha Site Museum and the exhibition hall, covering an area of about 500 square meters. Located in the southeast corner of Jinsha Site Museum, ebony forest is composed of Jinsha site and nearly 100 giant ebony unearthed in Chengdu area, which is a characteristic landscape. The Jade Road covers an area of about 1000 square meters and is composed of large-scale jade and a number of small pebbles.

Xishan waterscape square

Xishan waterscape Plaza is located in the garden area to the west of the main road of Jinsha Site Museum. The square covers an area of 10 mu, and the ground is paved with 20 tons of gold washed rice sand. The square is close to the museum's classic ecological landscape, Xishan, which is 12 meters high and has evergreen plants such as Metasequoia, Zhenlan, camellia and azalea.

Jinsha Theater

Jinsha theater of Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum is located in the northwest corner of the museum. It looks like a crystal crown and a budding flower bud. It is the first large-scale musical "Jinsha" in China.

4D cinema

Dream back to Jinsha is a four-dimensional 3D movie created by Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum. It uses two sets of 20000 lumen Barco high-definition digital video cameras with the maximum resolution of 1280 * 1024. The screen size is 12.8 meters wide and 7.5 meters high. There are 108 special effect dynamic seats, which are used to poke back, ear wind, ball, sweep legs, spray water, seat lift, etc At the same time, it is equipped with wind, rain, lightning, snow, smoke and other environmental effects.

Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum

Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum is located in the east of the museum and on the South Bank of the Mudi river. Jinsha site is also the earliest archaeological site found in the museum.

Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum is a nearly circular steel frame building with a building area of 7588 square meters, a height of 19 meters and a span of 63 meters. Because 90% of the cultural relics of Jinsha site are still buried in the soil of the excavation site, the huge space supported by 15 steel columns protects the excavation site to the maximum extent.

Exhibition hall of Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum

The exhibition hall of Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum is located on the North Bank of the Mudi river. It is a square building with a building area of 16000 square meters and an exhibition hall area of 5000 square meters. The exhibition hall also adopts a steel frame structure, which is divided into two floors above the ground and one floor under the ground. The theme exhibition in the exhibition hall is called walking into Jinsha. It is composed of five exhibition halls: "ancient homeland", "silhouette of Wangdu", "endless heaven and earth", "thousand year heritage" and "interpretation of Jinsha".

Exhibition hall 1: ancient homeland

The first exhibition hall is located in the West Hall on the second floor of the exhibition hall, covering an area of 900 square meters. The theme of the exhibition is to reproduce the ecological environment of Chengdu Plain 3000 years ago. A large imaginary half scene painting with a height of 8.7 meters, a length of 57 meters and an area of 500 square meters is used. It includes Jinsha morning sun restoration landscape, large heritage box display, directional query system, and beating query system.

The second exhibition hall: Wang Du silhouette

Wang Du silhouette of the second exhibition hall is located in the East Hall on the second floor, covering an area of about 900 square meters. The theme of the exhibition is to show the social life of ancient Shu more than 3000 years ago. The exhibition hall uses the irregular "fragment splicing" form, organically combines the archaeological excavation results, scene restoration and high-tech means, and slowly presents the production and life silhouettes of Jinsha ancestors along the exhibition line: residence, tools, pottery firing, smelting and casting, jade making, tombs, etc. Cutting cutting, die punching and other techniques. Most of the unearthed bronze wares are small objects and accessories on large ritual vessels.

Exhibition hall 3: the world is endless

The third exhibition hall is located in the East Hall on the first floor, covering an area of about 1000 square meters. The theme of the exhibition is to highlight the theme of "communication between heaven and earth" of ancient Shu people, and reproduce the scene of religious sacrifice in ancient Shu. The gold, bronze, jade, stone, ivory, and carapace relics are displayed to show that the ancient kingdom once had. The entrance is divided into a long passage with iron gauze net, and the feeling of space-time tunnel is created by lighting.

Exhibition hall 4: a thousand year Heritage

The fourth exhibition hall is located in the West Hall on the first floor, with an area of about 900 square meters. The main purpose of the exhibition is to show the most famous cultural relics of the more than 30 pieces of Jinsha site, mainly based on the "sun god bird" gold ornaments.

The exhibition design of the whole exhibition hall is centered on the gold ornament of "sun god bird", the treasure of Jinsha Site Museum. Around the circular exhibition stand with gold ornaments of "sun god bird" as the center, four groups of fan-shaped display cabinets are surrounded to display the cultural relics unearthed from Jinsha site in a hierarchical manner.

Exhibition hall 5: Interpretation of Jinsha

The fifth exhibition hall is located in the West Hall on the ground floor, covering an area of 830 square meters. The purpose of the exhibition is to sort out the development of ancient Shu culture in Sichuan before Qin Dynasty, and let tourists know the origin and destination of Jinsha site.

The central sand table shows the distribution area of ancient Shu civilization and its close relationship with the surrounding culture. Baodun culture - Sanxingdui Culture - Jinsha · Shierqiao culture - the civilization course of late Shu culture shows the historical back of Jinsha culture and the real context of cultural development through picture display boards and unearthed cultural relics.

Architectural features

The two main buildings of Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum are the relic Museum and the exhibition hall. The shape of the two main buildings adopts the way of slope, which indicates the rising of Jinsha site. The museum is nearly circular, and the exhibition hall is square. One circle and one side symbolize the cosmology of ancient Chinese. The two buildings are distributed on the north and south banks of the Mudi River and are integrated with the garden area. Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum has become a landmark of Chengdu.

The garden area of Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum takes "the beauty of nature, the interest of grass and wild" as the design concept, and the green coverage rate is as high as 80%, which is an organic part of the museum. In the garden area, trees and vegetation are divided into different areas according to different characteristics. Ginkgo, metasequoia and Phoebe spp., which are very ancient tree species in Sichuan Basin, are planted on both sides of the main tourist road; cherry blossom forest, peach blossom forest, pear blossom forest, hibiscus forest and Chimonanthus praecox forest are dotted all over the park; bamboo forest and shrubs cluster around the museum building.

The design of the roof of the exhibition hall of Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum has been integrated with the elements of Jinsha and archaeology by the architects. The round sign is the design of "golden ornament of sun god bird", which is the treasure of Jinsha Site Museum. The square around the pattern of sun god bird symbolizes the exploration used in archaeology.

Cultural Activity

From May 2004 to May 2005, cultural relics unearthed from Jinsha site went to Japan to hold an international exchange exhibition.

On November 28, 2007, the Jinsha Site Museum of Chengdu and the women and children's channel of Sichuan TV station jointly held the "dream realization mobilization" activity.

On April 16, 2008, to celebrate the first anniversary of Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum, Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum launched "Friends of museums" and "Museum volunteers" activities.

From January 21 to February 9, 2009, Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum held the first "Chengdu Jinsha Sun Festival".

On December 31, 2011, "thousand year old rock sound is still in Jinsha, praying for peace and happiness" the 2012 live broadcast of Jinsha live site of Chengdu TV station was held in the sun god bird sculpture of Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum.

Before the National Day holiday in 2018, Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum participated in the "Museum adventure season" activity jointly launched by Baidu and 10 well-known museums in China.

Honors

In 2001, Jinsha site was selected as "the top ten archaeological discoveries in China in 2001", honored as the first major archaeological discovery in China at the beginning of this century, and listed as one of the three major cultural brands in Chengdu.

In 2006, Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum was awarded the Sixth Batch of national key cultural relics protection units.

On November 12, 2007, Jinsha Site Museum of Chengdu Museum was awarded "Chengdu patriotism education base".

On February 1, 2009, Chengdu Jinsha Site Museum was rated as "national AAAA tourist attraction". In 2016, Jinsha Site Museum won the "most cultural heritage scenic spot" award.
