Life

Tan Lanqing (1908-1981), formerly known as Tan Ruifen, was born in Shunde, Guangdong Province. In 1921, she joined the Cantonese Opera industry as a Huadan and a clown girl. People in the opera industry respected her as "Liugu".

When he was young, he studied drama with his elder sisters xianhuawang and guihuatang, and performed on stage with the stage name of "guihuaxian".

When she was 16 years old, she was promoted to be a regular actress in the Liyuan movie girls' class. Later, he and Ren Jianhui organized plum blossom film troupe.

At 7 pm on Thursday, December 1, 1927, she performed the Cantonese Opera "snow hate for blind girls" for the American "women and men chanting rainbow clothes class" at the "worth Theatre" in San Francisco, USA.

In 1933, she joined Ma Shizeng's Taiping opera company together with her Shanghai sister, and became the first female Huadan after she was on the same stage. After she left Taiping opera company, she continued to be the official Huadan, starring in the famous dramas such as "the unruly princess's son-in-law", "Zhong Wuyan", "Douqi uncle" and so on. She is good at singing ditty, known as "the king of ditty".

In 1941, when Hong Kong was occupied, Tan transferred to Macao to cooperate with Ren Jianhui and Liang Xingbo.

After the victory of the Anti Japanese War, she lived in Hong Kong for a long time. Later, she became a clown because of her fat body. She has participated in 143 films and is good at acting a shrewd aunt.

She retired from the art scene in 1975, and her last film was 1969's "great power and little evil".

At about 11 am on March 13, 1981 (Wednesday), I went to the barber's for a perm. When I called for a taxi at my home, I suddenly passed out due to high blood pressure.

On March 15, 1981 (Sunday), a Buddhist ceremony was held at the Hong Kong Funeral Home in North Point. The funeral was presided over by Tong Ren of the Bahe guild hall in Hong Kong. Huang Yan, Mai Bingrong, yuan Yaohong, Lin Jiasheng, Liu Yuefeng and he honglue were also involved in the funeral.
