Yang Yang
Yang Yang, born in Tangyuan County, Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province on August 24, 1975, is a world champion, Olympic champion and former athlete of Chinese women's short track speed skating team.
In 1984, Yang Yang began skating training. In 1988, Yang Yang entered Harbin sports school to practice short track speed skating. In 1995, Yang Yang entered the national team from Heilongjiang provincial team. In 2002, Yang Yang won the gold medal of women's short track speed skating 500m in the Winter Olympic Games, becoming China's first Winter Olympic champion. In 2002, Yang Yang won four gold medals of 500m, 1000m, 1500m and individual all-round in the world short track speed skating championships, and achieved six consecutive championships in individual all-round events. Throughout his career, Yang Yang has won 59 World Championships, and is the Chinese athlete who has won the most world championships. On August 17, 2006, Yang Yang held a retirement ceremony in Beijing.
He is currently vice chairman of the all China Youth Federation, member of the National Committee of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference, member of the education, science, health and Sports Committee of the 13th CPPCC National Committee, chairman of the Athletes Committee of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games and the winter Paralympic Games, and vice chairman of the World Anti Doping Agency.

Yang Yang was born in an ordinary family in Tangyuan County, Heilongjiang Province. He was a quiet child and almost never cried. Seeing that the child was so quiet, Yang's mother gave Yang Yang the nickname "Bingxin", which means a quiet heart like ice. Yang Yang's father is a policeman and his mother runs a small photo studio. The naughty and stubborn Yang Yang has a natural talent and love for skating since she was a child. In February 1995, Yang Yang took part in the World Winter Universiade in Spain and won the women's 3000 meter relay. In March, Yang Yang took part in the Norwegian world short track speed skating championship. Working with her teammates, she broke the world record of women's 3000 meter relay with a time of 4:24.68 and won the championship. On December 3, Yang Yang took part in the Asian Short Track Speed Skating Championship held in Harbin. In February 1997, Yang Yang participated in the 18th Winter Universiade held in South Korea and won the women's 3000 meter relay championship with his teammates. In March, Yang Yang took part in the World Short Track Speed Skating Championships held in Japan and won the women's 500m, 1000m and women's all-around Championships in short track speed skating. In the same year, Yang Yang took part in the short track speed skating competition of the 8th National Games in Beijing, and won the women's 500m champion in 46.05 seconds.
