After years of hard work, he completed his first feature film "half lit" in Australia in 2003. In 2004, "halflit" was highly praised by the film critic Dr. Shi Wenhong (former president of the Hong Kong Film Critics Association). Later, he was appreciated by the famous director Guan Jinpeng and invited to work with him to write scripts and develop new film projects. In 2006, at the age of 24, he was invited by producer Zeng Zhiwei to write a series of films, the meaning of the river and the lake, which tells the story of an underworld legend who quit the gang before the return of Hong Kong. In 2007, Chen set up chance pictures Ltd., a film production company, to develop the film "the nine port war" with dajoint Ltd., a post production company. "Nine Hong Kong War" was selected as one of the finalists of the 2006 Taiwan film and television Venture Capital Association. Other directors selected include su Zhaobin, John Woo, Zhang wanting and Chen Guo. Chen cooperated with Zhang Shuping, a famous art director, to direct and shoot the MV of the theme song "the story of dancing forest" of Guo Fucheng's concert in 2007 and the TV advertisement of the concert for Xiaomei studio. Chen later directed five promotional videos of Microsoft computer software for advertising agency DDB. In 2009, the famous British film company Goldcrest films international bought the English script "l.k.f." written by Chen. British actor ray Winstone has expressed interest in participating in the show. In early October, Goldcrest films signed a contract with Chen as the director of the l.k.f. film project. Goldcrest films invests in and oversees films including "Ghandi" and "chariots of fire" which are Oscar winners. In 2010, Taiwan feisheng international invested 12 million Hong Kong dollars to shoot Chen's detective type film "Tianma murders", starring Ren Dahua, Zhang Jiahui, Liao Qizhi, Gong Cien and Huang Debin. The screenplay won the best screenplay award at this year's Fuchuan international Fantasy Film Festival in South Korea.
