Wu Guilin (1924-1945), born in Qiaodong, Dongchang Township, Jurong, was a peasant.
In March 1939, he joined the people's anti enemy Self Defense Corps in the northeast area of Jurong County, and was later reorganized into the new third regiment of the New Fourth Army. In February 1940, the army was ordered to move to Dan, Jin and Wu areas to crack down on Japanese puppet activities in Qingxiang. In the spring of 1941, the new third regiment and the Changge people's anti enemy self defense regiment were combined into the 47th regiment of the 16th brigade of the sixth division of the New Fourth Army. Wu was promoted from monitor to platoon leader. In February 1943, the 47th regiment merged with Maoshan security headquarters to command the local forces. In July, in order to combat the persecution of New Fourth Army officials by traitors and special forces, and restore the traffic between Zhenju county and the north and south of the Yangtze River, Wu was transferred to Zhenju County traffic station and county finance and grain section chief. In the spring of 1944, he was the company commander of the county guard company. In the arduous and dangerous environment of fighting against "mopping up", against "clearing the country", against counterfeiting, and against traitors, he made use of every opportunity to strengthen the training of basic movements of the army and improve its combat effectiveness. Once he used guerrilla tactics to skillfully break through the blockade line of high-tech and Xiashu railway, and excellently completed the task of covering the cadres and some military materials sent to southern Jiangsu by the party organizations in Northern Jiangsu. In the areas controlled by the Japanese puppets, local intelligence networks were established to combat the criminal activities of the Japanese puppet army in dongjingtang, Maozhuang, Qiaodong, Tuxiang and other places. He hated the traitors of Bao Jianhua and Wu Kongxi, and gave tit for tat. He executed the spies, rescued the imprisoned comrades, dealt a heavy blow to the arrogance of Bao, Wu and their ruling white rabbit, Shangdang, Qingshan, chenwuzhuang and other special forces, and preserved the revolutionary military strength. On April 12, 1945, the Japanese puppet army in chenwuzhuang stronghold was reconciled with the Japanese puppet army in Jurong. Wu was ordered to lead the guard company to ambush the Japanese puppet army on both sides of Yangjiazhuang, shuangdian village and lvzhugang passage of Zhenju highway. Unexpectedly, the Japanese reinforcements from the rear, Wu was attacked by the enemy before and after. Regardless of his personal safety, he conducted the battle calmly with the vanguard role of a Communist Party member. Unfortunately, he was punctured in the abdomen by a stray bullet and blood splashed all over his body. He told correspondent Wu Zongyu, "don't worry about me. Go and fight the enemy.". On the way to the logistics hospital in Mopan, he died due to excessive bleeding and ineffective rescue. He was only 21 years old.
