Early experience
Ang Lee was born in Pingtung County, Taiwan Province, China in 1954. When he was two years old, his family moved to Hualien. When he was ten years old, he settled in Tainan and studied in Yanping middle school. In 1969, he entered Tainan No.1 middle school. Personal life
Li's father, Li Sheng, was born in De'an County, Jiangxi Province. He was the county magistrate of Chongren County, Jiangxi Province. He moved to Taiwan in 1949 and served as the principal of Tainan No.2 Middle School and Tainan No.1 middle school. He died in 2004. Ang Lee's mother is Li Yang Sizhuang.
