Liu Yi (January 25, 1931 - December 25, 2016), formerly known as Wang Ping, is a member of the Communist Party of China (CPC) of Taichung City, Taiwan. Liu Yi, born on January 25, 1931, is from Taichung, Taiwan. Liu Yi grew up in a family with a strong artistic atmosphere. His father, Liu Jintang (also known as Wang Yuezhi), is a famous oil painter and art educator. He graduated from the Western Painting Department of Tokyo Art School in 1921 and was the first painter in Taiwan to study in Japan. In the early 1920s, he came to Beijing, engaged in art education, and devoted himself to creating a Western painting with his own unique style, based on realism and rich in Oriental colors. He published a lot of eye-catching works and became one of the pioneers of the Chinese new art movement in the same period as Xu Beihong and Lin Fengmian. More than 40 pieces of his works were donated to the state and collected by the China Art Museum. Liu Yi has been influenced and taught by his father since he was a child. He began to practice calligraphy since he was 7 years old. Although he is over 80 years old and has studied calligraphy for more than 70 years, he still keeps on writing. In 2011, Mr. Liu Yi authorized the National Palace Museum in Taipei, and Rong Baozhai wrote the preface and postscript of the cross-strait famous painting "Fuchun Mountain Residence" according to the original 1:1 perfect combination.
