Character evaluation
In the characterization and actor guidance, Chen Xinyi deliberately avoided the traditional way of constructing characters, that is, "watched women" and "recognized men", but constructed characters with independent female consciousness. The female images she created reflect the director's call for the awakening of women's self-consciousness and the thinking of the realistic living situation. Their images are not general female images reflecting the objective reality, but images containing the subjective consciousness of female directors, or directly or indirectly reflecting the director's feminist perspective. Chen Xinyi's films show her concern for the survival and spiritual world of people from all walks of life in Contemporary Taiwan society, as well as her humanistic thinking about the interaction between the fate, beliefs and living conditions of ordinary people (review of contemporary films).
